I do not like whitesnake, jovi, crue, poison, or any musical garbage where every third word is MF (like suicideboys, et al.).

4 bands and a genre.

Creed

Nirvana

KISS

Winger

Nugent

This was actually difficult. There's so many that suck.

I swear you said you loved KISS many times on this forum! This thread is full of ex-KISS fan traitors! Out damn spot! :madra:

I will send $20 to anyone that can find my statement of praise for Kiss on this forum. Never happened, never will.

Don’t put TRF to the test unless you want my pet peeve of “fixed” coming your way

Dream Theater

Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree

Peter Gabriel-era Genesis

Motorhead

I'm sure there's a fifth one that will come to me.

Porcupine Tree popular?

This is the only place I've ever heard of them.

Their last album hit the Top 30 in the album chart in the US.

Sex Pistols.....Good Gawd, all hype and attitude and zero talent. Please give me The Ramones or The Clash for punk with actual musical talent.

Motley Crue.......cliche' city. Hair band trying to be disguised as metal.

Motorhead..........simply for the one time I saw them live opening for Ozzy and Randy on the Blizzard tour. An utterly shit wall of noise.

Journey............I liked one song (Wheel In The Sky)

Ted Nugent..........no matter your political beliefs, anyone that calls children who survived a mass shooting and as a result want stricter gun control "souless" is exactly that himself.

Def Lepperd............first album was OK. After that, zzzzzzzzz

Or sleeps with and likes little children for that matter. There are plenty of political musicians like Megadeth, Pantera, Ramones, Beach Boys et al who have members I disagree with that I still listen to but disgusting scum like him and the Trapt douche, who sucks anyways, is where I draw the line. Hell, there are some who I agree with who are such humorless jerks. *looks at Roger Waters*

The later hardcore U.S. bands blow Sex Pistols out of the water as well like Dead Kennedys, Black Flag and Bad Brains.

Ted's first few albums are pretty awesome.

1970s Nugent is the only Nugent. His guitar playing is awesome.

Oh yeah, Sex Pistols. That's a band that exists...

Holy hell they are overrated. The usual suspects of classic old school punk like Clash and Ramones are good. Screw the Sex Pistols and that opportunist poser Johnny Rotten.

Whatever you think of the band, the reality is that their album is a monster, and it drove the punk explosion. Nirvana's Nevermind did the same a generation later.

Exactly. I think Nevermind The Bollocks is really misunderstood. You're right, it drove the punk explosion AND inspired many band that attended just one gig June 4th 1976.

https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/four-dozen-people-witness-the-gig-that-changed-the-world

Like the New York Dolls previous.

Yep they did one album. That's it. Personally I think its super musically. Culturally it was a game changer. In the UK the powers that be were threatened, if only for the blink of an eye.It was banned, a 1st. That probably adds to it's being overrated charge. However these merits are scoffed at, there aren't many albums in history that have had this impact.

I own all Black Flag albums. Damaged is a classic album, arguably their best. I love the Hardcore movement in the States;. Meat Puppets Husker Du (I have most of their catalogue along with Mould) - most signed to SST. But the Pistols debut is an absolute classic up there with Nevermind, it's cultural and musical impact being massive, even if misunderstood with time and distance. It even has the same word in the title as Nirvana's classic :P .

That may be true. If so it's my guess they were released when they had little competition.

I may be wrong.

Back in the day, I was pimping this band to my rush friends to no avail.

I am talking images and words era. Not much of a fan these days but stoked for the new LTE.

To this date, I have met only one DT fan.

They are not obscure by any means and I suspect they are more loved in Europe then

the usa at this point.

The average rock fan has never heard of either PT or DT. Imo.

Yeah, we were all quite excited at the time.

After the first listen. not so much. LOL.

I do have some friends who love the incident but it's not my cup of tea. I saw the leg of the incident tour where the co-headlined with coheed and cambria.

most of the bands I actually hate would be obscure here (arcade fire, the decemberists, mumford and sons, etc). I don't have a taste for a lot of the hair metal or AOR stuff people around here like, but I also didn't grow up in the 70s and 80s so I've never lived in a world where people gave a shit about journey

yeah, myself included. I don't own anything by wilson or PT though. I might buy the sky moves sideways if I found it in a second hand shop. they have other good stuff, I just don't really listen to them
