I'm not a particularly big fan of the Police and I detest U2 so the Police song is the best of a bad lot.

At least the U2 song isn't a stalker anthem.

 

yeah, it's milquetoast. sting had that steely dan thing where he could have a catchy pop song with a subversive meaning, way more intelligent

U2 - I'm a sucker for The Edge's guitar effects. Joshua Tree is a brilliant album.

 

I saw U2 perform Joshua Tree in 2017 and they were fantastic. They've had some bummer tours but this one was pretty amazing.

 

 

Synchronicity is their worst album.

During the 1986 Amnesty International Tour in Giants Stadium, The Police played "Invisible Sun" and then gave their instruments to U2 who thereafter completed the song. To many, it was the symbolic passing of the torch from the Police who ruled the rock scene then to U2.

 

Then all the participants performed Bob Dylan's song "I Shall Be Released".
