thirteen
Dream TheaterI'll be honest, DT are one of the few bands that I don't do anything for me at any level.I know they can play their instruments (obviously) but everything I've heard leaves me meh... I can typically find something enjoyable in all music, but somehow not with Dream Theater. As for the most polarizing band? IMO Rush (in particular Geddy) by a landslide. I mostly agree to be fair, as once I got over the musicianship, I got bored.

Rick N. Backer
Dream Theater Rolling Stones - I know many people dislike them The Stones? They are about as close to a universally revered band as you will find. Contrarians might disagree, but I don’t think a 95% approval rating is fairly called “polarizing.”

I think people think there are many words that mean, “I don’t like them.” See, overrated.

ozzy85
Lynyrd Skynyrd... Partially because of their stereotypical fanbase, partly because classic rock radio has totally and completely (and continues to) beat them to !@#$ death every hour. I used to like them. Neal Young, for some of the same reasons. Lots of aging hippie fans here in Bellingham.

Fridge
Smashing Pumpkins are one that springs to mind, mainly due to Corgans "marmite" voice.
ReRushed
Smashing Pumpkins are one that springs to mind, mainly due to Corgans "marmite" voice.I hated Smashing Pumpkins back in the 1990s. Yes, it was mainly because of Corgan's singing. Now I have an appreciation for them I never imagined possible.

I really do like the sheer distortion on Cherub Rock, though. 1979 really caught the vibe of that year, also. I really thought it was the Stones and Mick's nasal voice. I tried to look it up as a Stones tune back then. Springsteen... Had a few good songs. I love that he was an old street racer/biker. I was one, too. That connects. Otherwise, no. custom55
Led Zeppelin Jimmy's live playing is always criticized as being sloppy. Robert's vocals off... blah blah blah. To me, seeing the band live ( 14 times ) was an out-of-body experience. Edited February 27, 2018 by custom55

To me, seeing the band live ( 14 times ) was an out-of-body experience. ...I'm not sure I've ever met anyone who likes rock and doesn't at least appreciate Zep. I've even criticized Page's kind of intentional sloppiness, but I'd hardly call them polarizing. They are the epitome of rock gods.
