  1. I finally got around to this. i wasn't listening right off on purpose. i have to say i'mm glad i did this because the singles on the album sounded new to me again. so i actually think i had the right idea here, lol. as too the album itself. i've played it at least 5 times now. with headphones. reading lyrics taking it in. First things first this album reminded me of painkiller Smashed with Turbo. Some of the production just reminded me of Turbo but with less cringe. i noticed too the drumming on here is REALLY forward in the mix. and you can really hear the kick drum patterns on these songs. which BTW i loved being a huge fan of the drums. Halford sounds great maybe even stronger than on Firepower. although the last note on Giants In the Sky was kinda bum and i lol'ed.... sorry i did, lol As too the music. it's really good guys. I think Panic Attack and The Serpent And the King their best one two opening punch in a while. Actually the first six songs of this thing are back to back balls to the wall great. The Title track, Gates of Hell, Crown of Horns, Devil In Disguise (this one's just cool) I will be a little crital and say after Crown of Horns i have to pick and choose what i like cause the album does fall off a bit......for me. if it doesn't for you......great. As god as my Witness is good. Still don't like Trial by Fire (it was least fav single) Escape from reality is great. Sons Of Thunder.......eh it's fine. And the closer Giants. is actually my fav track. As for the bonus three I think switched out some of the main songs in the 2nd half for these. i loved all 3. In summary this is a great album. JP basically wins again. Now i think Firepower is a stronger album overall (Duck''s Segues chair) but i loved this album as well. Mick

  3. Judas Priest-Invincible Shield (8/10) Gave my in depth review in the IS thread. I am blown away by the quality these guys are pumping out. I've read reviews both good and bad about this album. to me it's tremendous for a legacy band. now i prefer Firepower but this is no slouch. Mick

  4. I'm still trying to figure out what my favorites are on this album. Every song stands on it's own very well. Every song is just as good as the last one.

  5. I think I'm Going Bald is f***ing good with a killer riff. It's better than crap like Bravest Face and Good News First by a few galaxies. Twilight Zone and Madrigal are good songs so is Chemistry. There's tons of other stuff that's worse than these like Rivendell and Nobody's Hero.

  8. funny how we hear things. Gates of hell was a straight banger glad you came around. For me because of some of some of the weaker middle tracks i too feel the fatigue just a bit. plus the first 6 songs to me are so good that the 2nd half has some ground to cover (i mean the 2nd half minus the bonus songs) and it doesn't QUITE live up but again the album closes with my fav song so i can forgive. But again don't take this as me raining on the lovefest. I LOVE this album.......i really do. Mick

  9. Iprefer the last 2 JP albums to the last 2 iron maidan albums. These last 2 JP albums are GREAT!!!!! They just rock so hard. as i said i think Firepower just a tad better all the way through. IS has a few low spots for me BUT i love this record. Similar BUT they are seperate vibes. Miick

  11. This. I think I will go back and forth on which I prefer, they are very distinct albums that each call to different aspects of their past (without sounding redundant). At the moment I'm all about this album, I just adore it. I can think of reasons why, ultimately, I might still prefer FP. But ask me on the day lol. This sounds as energetic and youthful as early Trivium. Their is a fire here that SCREAMS new kids on the block, I can't really explain it but yeah. If I was new to the band, and you said this was a classic debut album, I'd believe you. It has a vitality that goes beyond their advanced skills.

  13. The new album keeps on getting better for me. And it does what all great follow ups do, it makes the album before even better. I think FP is better overall, I just like some of the more delicate moments more. But my god, what a way to enter your fiftieth year as album artists!

  14. If I was to put together a "Worst of" Rush song's c.d., and album list, I would only include these songs on it. If I was to put together a "Not bad" Rush song's c.d., and album list, I would only include these songs on it. With the later songs, I would only include these four songs as honorable mentions. 15. I'm a big fan of that Battle Cry release. Is it Unleashed in the East? Absolutely not, but it does a great job to capture the new phase of the band.

  19. The Award for Best Supporting Actor goes to Robert Downey, Jr. for portraying Lewis Strauss in Oppenheimer. His first Academy Award in three attempts. I haven't seen many of his films (Iron Man, The Avengers, The Pickup Artist....that's about it), and I haven't seen Oppenheimer, but I surely know great talent when I see it. The man is gifted. Acting talent and natural charisma. Even when accepting his first Oscar, he was (mostly) cool, collected and smooth.

  20. Yup. They have few songs over four minutes that deserve to be. I still love them. And 2000 onwards has yet to dip for me like Nostradamus or Redeemer. Its just FP and IS are that good I'd take them over modern Maiden, even the great stuff

  21. Judas Priest. i LOVE this band. it's funny they are my fav old school metal band(yes over Maiden even) but the whole middle 80's period Defenders of the faith though Ram it down i think stinks but the best JP is honestly better than 90% of YOUR fav metal band. it's a scientific fact. look it up, lol Mick

  22. This is an album that I guarantee we will be talking about in a couple of years still, and find tonnes to praise it for in that second half. This album reminds me so much of ABIII. When I first heard that album, it wore me out. Eventually, the entire album grew on me and its one of my all time faves. IS feels like this sort of album for me. Its just relentlessly immersive fun. It is amazing to me how much I love Judas Priest now. All he songs I heard growing up made me think this band was overblown shite

  23. Is this real? I dare say it might be perfect. BTROD into VOC??? Closing the main set with hecking PAINKILLER? I’m starting to think Rob isn’t human. I can’t think of any sane singer who would wait to do that song at the end!

  24. I will say, I'm continuing to find more things to love about this album. When I first played it, I singled out Gates Of Hell as my least favourite moment. Jokes on me, it's my current fave haha. Also the album is so strong to start, I actually find myself a bit worn out by the half way point (not even taking into account bonus tracks), so I think there is plenty more for me to truly unravel here. Golden listening experience, it feels new every time.

  25. I hate to say it but I find myself increasingly ignorant of post No Prayer Maiden. I find they need to edit down way more, great songs they have on the albjms from 2000 onwards, a shocking number outstay their welcome. As for Priest, the two latest are honestly in my top ten, and that speaks volumes for a band who have a ridiculous number of classics across fifty years.

  26. I agree with you! I actually think the bonus tracks could be replaced with some album tracks for a better album. If you don't listen to the deluxe, you really are getting the weakest (not really) moments without some of the best.

  34. I'm starting to think that Fight of Your Life may be the low key killer track of the album. Maybe it is the best track? And The Lodger is another great one. All these reviewers who just review the regular edition with the first 11 tracks and dismissing the bonus cuts on the "Target" version need to go and have a rethink on this.

  36. I'm still trying to figure out if I can realistically see them this round. It could very well be one of my last chances to see them. Sabaton opening is a vast upgrade from seeing Steel Panther (though I did like them). I may have to drive 3.5 hours to see them in Ohio show as a 30th birthday gift to myself. At present, I'm settling for KK's Priest in Buffalo on Wednesday

  38. Nice idea, even if you are bored! I definitely wouldn't have some of these tracks on a 'Worst Of' collection. Best I Can, Take A Friend, High Water, Sweet Miracle, The Stars Look Down and a few more wouldn't make my Worst of...Not sure what I'd replace them with - probably make it a 1 disc set instead.
