Rush - Signals Its got my second favorite Rush song (Subdivisions), another all time classic (New World Man), several near classics (The Analog Kid, Losing It & Countdown, although Countdown is defiantly weaker then the other 2 songs I mentioned) plus some other good songs. Quite an album!!6 points

My dislike for Nirvana is well documented so I don't have to go on about how overrated they are and how they lowered the standard for all of rock music for several years since they made it ok for bands to suck at what they did and still get played on the radio. David Grohl was the only talent in that band. Kiss is the other big one for me. All marketing and image and very little substance. There are also a number of overplayed classic rock bands that I never got into. The big thing for me is that there are a lot of old hits that still get played on the radio and I can't understand why so many years after it's relevancy they still get played. Some hits are eternal but there are a lot of them that should have been left behind in the era they came out in.5 points

number1 will ALWAYS be Nirvana for me. one of the most overblown bands ever. saving grace to me is Dave's drumming. The albums are a snoozefest though. Mick5 points

They did save the world! Without The Who we’d all be in a rat race for Pinball championship victories, day in and day out, nothing but pinball for all of society! If it weren’t for Tommy, who was so good at Pinball he could beat your best without looking, hearing, or thinking much about it, we’d be practically tied to the machines. We all had to give up the dream in his wake, and I think we’re better off for it. unless I’ve been fooled again…4 points

Lol, oh you may be sarcastic but it’s endearing. I always look forward to reading what you and Segue have been listening to because you guys go down so many different rabbit holes and always have really well thought out perspectives about so many different kinds of music.3 points

DUUUUDE he was disgusting. but he had one hell of a classy wake piece of garbage. Mick3 points

GG Allin. that guy really sucks. he's overrated within the "underground" sphere. no one actually likes his music, it's all about how he eats his own shit on stage.3 points

i think honestly it's fair to list The Beatles. I mean from the moment your born you're just told how GREAT AND AMAZING AND THEY ARE THE BE ALL END ALL OF POPULAR MUSIC FOREVER AND EVER!!!!!!! It's literally installed into your brain. and they did change the game but at the end of the day........they're just songs and i say this as a big fan. Mick3 points

Doesn't surprise me, the way the guitar is mixed on studio records is superior to most metal bands anyway.3 points

ZZ Top made the blues fun and great to rock out to. I always thought they had a very unique sound that was more than your standard blues band. Billy Gibbons guitar tone and vocal style certainly set them apart from everyone else who played that style. What albums have you heard?3 points

Bryan Adams - Cuts Like A Knife. That take you back to the early 80's? Been a long time since I listened to it but it was the next album out of the box tonight. Side 1 (The Only One, Take Me Back, This Time, Straight From The Heart & Cuts Like a Knife) is as enjoyable as I remembered. Esp. This Time and Cuts Like a Knife - ahh, to be 17 again (that how old I was when the album came out). Side 2 is actually better then I remembered - but is no where as good as side 1. That I remembered correctly.3 points

I have tried so hard to like The Dead, and I can't. I just can't. I love Phish though. Weird, right? Also Haken. I should like them....but I just don't. Not working for me. maybe one day they will click.3 points

Also the tired argument is they changed the scene.......true.......BUT really they just broke first. Alice in Chains (a Much better band IMO) had a shot too. Nirvana just got there ahead. Mick3 points

Rush - Grace Under Pressure Side one is loaded. An absolute classic in Distant Early Warning and 3 songs (Afterimage, Red Sector A & The Enemy Within) that if they are not classics, they are almost at that elite level. All 3 are tremendous. Side 2 is a bit weaker. The Body Electric, Kid Glaves & Red Lenses are good, solid songs that I like but not like the songs on side 1. Not even close. Then you get Between The Wheels. That was a song I did not care for at all for a long time. Then I saw them perform it on the R30 tour and it blew me away. Now I love it. If its not a classic then it is also almost at that elite level. One heck of an album. The amazing thing is that is it not one of my top 6 Rush albums. Its likely somewhere between 7 and 14 (likely closer to 7 then 14). Thats how deep & good Rush's catalog is. One of these days I will have to sit down and actually rank the Rush albums - that will be an interesting thing to do. I know how I would rank them its just a matter of getting the time to do it and figure out exactly what album is where.3 points

60's rock is a weird time. the Who is just a weird ass band to get so popular. i like them but man you'd think they saved the world according to a lot on TRF. Mick2 points

I don't go out of my way to listen to The Beatles much either. They wrote some stuff I like but there are many superior bands out there imo.2 points

I have a theory that if you were born after The Beatles broke up they put a chip in your head after that makes you know everything from them. I can't explain how else I would know so many songs by heart from a band that I was never much of a fan of 😄2 points

"The history of the earth is like the life of a soldier -- long periods of boredom with brief bursts of terror." We may just be in one of those plateaus between bursts. Streaming quality may improve, but streaming itself seems so easy. Hard to see, the future is.2 points

Chips in the head. and it'll be ANNOYING. loud ads will just play in your head at random moments all day lol......i really see it happening. Mick2 points

Of all the heavy and loud metal shows I've been to, Billy Gibbons live guitar sound is one of the heaviest and loudest I have ever heard at a concert. The sound literally fills the air and completely consumes it. You're pretty much breathing in the sound of his guitar instead of air.2 points

Right. It's basically customized radio. Central point of distribution through preference filters. Where CAN it go from there? Outside of repackaging/creative marketing ?2 points

Most are obvious: Machine Gun Kelly Imagine Dragons Muse (post-BHAR) Ed Sheeran KISS Korn Limp Bizkit Five Finger Death Punch Cardi B I once would have added Pantera, Judas Priest, Steely Dan, Guns N Roses, Queen andEagles, but now I really like/love them all.2 points

Well, it's special for Metallica and their fans because they've never done that on tour before.2 points

DESTROYER IS NOT THE RIGHT ALBUM TO JUDGE KISS BY listen to Alive. If you still hate it, fine. But Destroyer is gaudy and over produced and is much more likely to turn you off of them than, say, Rock And Roll Over.2 points

As a fan of his, I will roll my eyes when I hear that song. I often skip it when listening to the album. It's a short song but life is too short to waste time listening to it.2 points

Nirvana defiantly. Pearl Jam. With the exception of a few songs, The Rolling Stones. Even those songs don't thrill me. They are just sort of ok.2 points

Yeah, there is a big jump in quality from Bleach to Nevermind and I always preferred the other 3 Seattle bands and even STP and Smashing Pumpkins over them. Krist has some decent moments on bass like the opening to Lounge Act. Bleach just showed they were a poor man's version of better bands like Melvins, Pixies and Hüsker Dü. Grohl is number 2 of 90s alt rock drummers behind Jimmy Chamberlin for me.2 points

Holland, yes. England, yes. And I like your even-keeled prediction of France vs Poland, but how are we to "mess them up?" We're going to be Danny Glover fighting against seven...eleven Predators.2 points

Once again missed all the football. My heart sank when I heard that Argentina won. Come on Oranje!!! Come on Virgil!! I so hope you win!!! As for tomorrow, I expect England to win...... But the France v Poland match is an intriguing one. If France get into stride they will be hard to stop, but if Poland can mess them about, the French temperament is a bit dodgy. As I am still on the razz I will no doubt fail to see either game!!2 points
