  1. There are moments where each of them has a passage that just blows me away. If you don't feel something from Alex's playing during La Villa, you have no ear for music.

  5. This might sound weird, but is there anyone else here that Alex's guitar gets to? What I mean is that what he plays seems to get under my skin and go straight to my heart - instant chills.

  6. Were they getting lazy in the nineties? This album is beneath them. Counterparts makes Vapor Trails sound epic. For myself, the only worthwhile songs on the album are: Animate Alien Shore Leave That Thing Alone

  7. 04 June 2014 Wednesday Bullet Ant Found in lowland rainforests from Nicaragua to Paraguay, the bullet ant is so named because the long, retractable syringe on its abdomen injects an incredibly painful neurotoxic peptide, poneratoxin, and it is poneratoxin that makes the bullet ant the stuff of legend among entomologists and myrmecologists. Just how painful is a bullet ant’s poneratoxin? Well, in simple layman’s terms, it hurts like hell. More scientifically stated, it tops the Schmidt Sting Pain Index, coming in at 4.0+ on a scale of 1 to 4, which means that the pain of a bullet ant sting is literally off the charts, and makes one wonder if the Schmidt Sting Pain Index could use some revising. In its present form, the Schmidt Sting Pain Index is the brainchild of Justin Schmidt, an entomologist who subjected himself to the bites and stings of horrible insects in his very favorite taxonomic order, Hymenoptera (mainly wasps, bees and ants), in an effort to classify the pain numerically. Schmidt characterized the sting of a single bullet ant as ‘pure, intense, brilliant pain’ and suggested (from self-imposed experience) that it was about 30 times more painful than the sting of a common wasp. And so, the bullet ant holds the title of both world’s most hurtful insect and the world’s most hurtful invertebrate, while Schmidt himself remains ranked as the coolest entomologist. http://i.imgur.com/hfeQQ6g.jpg http://i.imgur.com/W5eBgZ9.jpg http://i.imgur.com/hvFjpeO.jpg http://i.imgur.com/JMS0yCN.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4Zv9VWB.jpg

  8. Red Barchetta - for weeks now. It is time to knock it out of my brain. That means I must give myself a Rush music fest today and, hopefully, another tune will replace it.

  9. Sorry for the confusion. I am at my parents home in Florida for the week trying to assist them in selling it. I might as well be on Gilligans Island. No tv, WiFi signal, no nothin. I am at Lowe's using their WiFi now. I am ok and will be back to the civilized world by Sunday.... :) In the future, you better post your schedule here.

  13. Brian confirms "new" Queen album in 2014. Freddie - John - Brian - Roger, from recordings from 1980 to 1990. Brian confirmed title as "Queen Forever". It has duets with Rod Stewart, David Bowie and possibly Michael Jackson. (All recorded in the 1980s) Brian compares the new album to "Made in Heaven". If this is, in fact, true, I will be one happy Queen fan, as I happen to think "Made in Heaven" is a fantastic Queen album. Check out this interview on BBC Wales, around the 11 minute mark... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D64gye_HTXw&feature=player_detailpage#t=661

  19. I used to hate it for quite awhile, but in recent months it has really grown on me and I now love it! Animate, Nobody's Hero, and Everyday Glory are probably my favorites, but I think every song is fantastic. Although I would say that Roll the Bones takes the title of "Best 90s Rush album"

  20. I was quite please with their last effort. What other band has produced a record of that quality, this late in their carreers? The answer? No one. If they have another album in them, if it come anywhere close to the quality of Clockwork Angels, I'll be ecstatic! Don't get me wrong. There is not one Rush album that I despise - there is always a redeeming song or three or four on each album. But, Snowdog, CA doesn't come close to AFTK in my book. No, it doesn't. The span of 2112 through Power Windows is on a different plateau then everything else. And how many albums have stuff as strong as Cygnus and Xanadu?

  21. I agree, but in the nineties Toto did the whole pop/rock shebang better with Tambu... *proceeds to duck from flying missiles* Segue!!! Must you bring Toto into every Rush discussion???? So tell me, your favourite Rush song...Xanadu, is it?? Also...you share your name with a Toto song...lolsies!

  23. Favorite Rush album. It was their first truly great album for me since Power Windows and it's especially welcome after the horrible stretch of HYF-RTB. Love the first 5 tracks, one of the best instrumentals they have, and Cold Fire and Everyday Glory are great. Double Agent and Alien Shore are fun and goofy numbers to jam to on guitar, especially Double Agent. Speed of Love, while forgettable compared to the rest of the album, isn't a bad tune either.

  26. Great sound, but easily Rush's worst album. Animate, LTTA and Nobady's Hero are probably the only songs good enough to make it on to most other Rush albums. By far the worst lyrics Peart has written.

  28. Mission didn't kill the crowd nearly as much as Middletown Dreams, Territories, or most of the synth stuff from the first set on the last tour. In fact, Mission played quite well live. Can't say for Middletown, I got Limelight at my show. At my show, the crowd actually went apeshit when they played Territories and Analog Kid (especially Analog Kid), though they were pretty calm with The Pass. After Analog Kid and Territories I don't think the crowd went nuts again until Lerxst brought out the 355 for Far Cry. I agree with you about Mission being played well live, I definitely enjoyed it, but from my experience any Hold Your Fire song that gets played with the possible exception of Force Ten hasn't received much crowd response. Bring back Lock and Key and maybe that'll get the crowd going!

  30. My opinion - four talented songwriters with distinct writing styles usually led to very disjointed but incredibly entertaining, over the top, albums. Also, I don't think Brian May recorded one bad guitar solo. Every single one of his solos was perfect for its song.

  46. Well, it all depends on how quickly you want to clear the room. The only song that anyone who isn't more than a casual fan will possibly know is "Show Don't Tell" or (very slightly) possibly "The Ass." The most fun to hear would actually be "Chain Lightning" as it actually isn't that bad (make sure you get the Geddy-sat-on-his-sack "nya nya nya's" right) and would be a fun surprise to hear. Absolutely avoid "Poopycumdickd'er" unless your audience likes Tears for Fears and embraces their more feminine side. And, if you want to make the audience wish they were at a seminar on the logistics of insuring plowing equipment in Kansas, play "Whore Taint." But, if you wish to make the audience think that you're 'in' on the "we can play crappy Rush too" joke, then by all means play "Ass-a-grab (for Man-Ho)" as there are not many finer examples of pure horsesh*t than that steamin' pile. However, if you want to play songs for the military to give them ideas for songs they can torture terrorist prisoners with, then you can't get much better than either "Red Mountain Fresh Tide with Bleach" or "Ass Insert Fist" as both of those songs will turn ANY brain to drone-like mush. If you want to please group-think bandwagon fanboys, then by all means bust out an extended version of "Available Sh*t" while the singer cries during the ending.
