  1. I've been doing some thinking lately, and I thought "La Villa Strangiato" would sound really cool with the strings. Maybe they could substitute it for "Manhattan Project" or "Dreamline?"

  3. Damn, more than a year since this topic has seen a post... Well, long ago, I said I would do a sig for Clockwork Angels once the album was out, and so I have: http://i337.photobucket.com/albums/n364/gamerx234/Rush%20related%20stuff/rush_cl_sig_zps8e5367de.png So yeah. I dunno if anyone uses any of these anymore but I had to do this one for completion's sake. I love how this one turned out.

  4. Back in the very early 80's when I got into this band I would never have imagined that in 2012 I'd be celebrating such a great year for Rush: - first and foremost, the release of Clockwork Angels where the majority of Rush fans accept this release as one of their best in many years - an extensive tour that again the majority of fans see as Rush still playing at an extremely high level of their game - a tour that is recorded for an upcoming DVD (another item that we will have for life when we want to revisit the tour) - confirmation of further 2013 dates - miscellaneous goodies (the novel, re-release of 2112, string section etc.) - a nomination and then confirmation for the RRHOF (again the majority are thrilled about this despite the 14 year late snub we have endured) A shout out to all the great fans who also made this year happen with their devotion to the band we still have so much reason to love.

  6. Did you guys see this article from NPR that Rush just posted on Facebook? It's great! http://www.npr.org/blogs/therecord/2012/12/18/167554155/loving-rush-with-all-my-heart-and-brain

  7. Nah, there is no reason for them to do that at this stage. Overture/Temples/Finale is a great, punchy, show closer.

  8. "The Pass" was one of the highlights for me and my fiancée at the show we attended in San Antonio. We were sitting in a section with few diehards, and mostly casual fans. But even they seemed pretty excited about "The Pass." On that note, I learned a lesson at the show: It's worth it to pay a little more to be on the floor with the diehards who are genuinely excited about the entire show, and not just the hits.

  11. I think they might be more inclined to replace an instrumental with another instrumental. Hence, YYZ with La Villa Strangiatto. Better yet, just add La Villa to the end of YYZ right after the slower keyboard bridge. That would be very cool and unexpected. :codger:

  12. Agreed, Besides there are many unplayed RUSH I would rather see brought to the Limelight. Cut to the Chase, Alien Shore, Open Secret, Different Strings, Vapor Trial, Sweet Miracle and of course Losing It! :boohoo:

  16. Well you're in the exact same position as the Saints, eliminated from the play-offs at 7-8, who've you got next week? The New England Braderiots? They only just squeaked by the Jags today... Yeah, we have the Evil Empire, NFL division. We also clinched the second place schedule :boohoo:, so we might as well go win it, or at least do what Houston did to Welker. That means SD, Ind, and Cin (probably)...or at least two of the three instead of Pit, Oak, and Ten. I think you are in the same boat, depending on head to head and divisional records. Not sure it makes much difference...but I don't think it can help. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qb5MQTPv4Jg/TankY-m6StI/AAAAAAAAAEg/Hmem_t4zW4g/s320/belichick+vader.jpg You believe Miami will win next week? I find your lack of faith disturbing. Is the game early or late? If it's late and Houston plays early (and wins) then our chances go up. OTOH the Denver game is probably late, though they play KC so a win for the Broncos is assured. They've been "flexed" to 4:25 p.m. apparently. Incidentally, as much as I like it, I have to disagree with the "Evil Empire" comparison. The Yankees got that name from Larry Lucchino when they swooped in and outbid the Sox for Contreras. It's the Yankees' ability to outspend everyone that makes them the Evil Empire. Because the NFL isn't (entirely) run by buffoons, teams obviously can't do that. Yeah, I saw that they were flexed. Not sure why though...I guess it could make a difference seeding wise. The "Evil Empire" moniker is the result of a dispute over Jose Contreras? What a disappoinment! By the way, there is more than one way for evil to manifest itself. :) The Patriots can finish seeded anywhere from 1-4 depending on what happens this weekend, so you'd think the NFL would want them to play at 1 pm so they couldn't watch what happens in the Houston-Indy game. I would think they have a better chance of ending up No. 1 than No. 2. If Houston wins I'm 99% certain they end up No. 3. Fair enough on the manifestations of evil point. Denver will not lose to KC at home so #1 is out. I don't think Indy is playing for anything so Houston should be good too. Looks like #3 for the Pats, who knows what the Raven-Bengal game will look like? You know, I'd like to like Belichick. That's impossible because he's the HC of my team's biggest rival, but he seems to be the only coach around that understands game and clock situations, which drives me nuts. Or maybe he's the only coach with enough balls to go for it on 4th and 2 when punting the ball would just delay the inevitable. I think Indy, because they have a young quarterback and no chance of a bye, may use next week as a "practice" for a playoff environment. As much as I'd like to avoid going to Denver to get to the SB, I agree that's unlikely. Listen to weei.com today at 4 pm if you can. Belichick is a guest every Monday. He does everything humanly possible to avoid giving information, but one of the hosts is Steve DeOssie, so he usually coaxes something out of him. A colleague of mine once said I was the Bill Belichick of our type of work. When I asked him if that meant I was a great strategist, he laughed and said "No. It means everyone thinks you're an a-hole."

  22. If they are going to do a second leg, I hope they put Limelight back into the setlist. I didn't get to hear it when I saw them in Newark! I know it's played all the time, but it's a great concert song, and it deserves a spot in the set!

  23. People are always bashing VEVO because of the ads, but I love it. I love having all of an artist's videos in high quality in one place, and because my father works in radio, he made sure to teach me the importance of advertisement in the economy. ;)

  24. I'm not a tattoo person, but I have to say I like that one. I'm sure the all black ink really pops. Hopefully, it will maintain its luster for quite some time. I think that it is wonderful that it means something to you because of your family and the Rush tie in was just an obvious choice. Serendipity. There is something so magical about this band and the way their music touches all of our lives. I am fascinated by the way it expresses itself in each of us. Thanks for sharing the photo, Amy. Great tattoo. :)
