I remember Taxi a little bit from when I was a kid but last year I watched the whole series as an adult for the first time. Jim Ignatowski is one of the best and funniest sitcom characters of all time. Christopher Lloyd's performance was just magic.

Especially when he had to take a test..! That whole scene was awesome! :LMAO:

KJ, I love your avatar but dude NOOOOO Neelix sucked!!

To the uninitiated: He's basically a slightly less obnoxious / useless form of Jar-Jar Binks.

He's not really under-rated I think he just was never really given anything substantial to actually DO.

Here's my pick for a Star Trek character who's seriously under-rated:

Neelix was actually a well constructed character. His background was deep, and his motivations were complex. Sure, he was overly cheery and designed to be a bit obnoxious, but given the life that his character lived, it totally makes sense. One of the last of his species, limping aimlessly through space on his little lonely freighter before he met Voyager, he needed to rely on over the top optimism and constant self entertainment to justify his own existence.

He was a fantastic foil to Tuvok (who was a far more grating, uninteresting character, IMO) and he was ultimately one of the most well developed and fun characters on the show... I genuinely liked Neelix, and I think many Star Trek fans take the show too seriously to appreciate the character for what he was.

The show sucked after he left.

Well-written and thought out, I gotta' appreciate it from another real fan :D

I didn't like Tuvok much during Voyager's run (or Voyager itself much aside from Seven, The Doctor, and maybe Paris sometimes) however after seeing Tim Russ at a convention.. Well the guy himself is pretty awesome and made Tuvok way more likable to me upon repeat viewings. This x100 for Harry Kim too. Garrett Wang's a friggin' riot if you've ever seen him in person.

Actually, for me the death knell was when Col. Blake and Trapper John left, I believe at the same time.

That was a great show that ended too soon and too abruptly.

yeah, the fourth season was too compressed because they thought they were getting cancelled. then when they weren't they had to stretch season 5.

Niles Crane

I never saw him as underrated. Didn't David Hyde Pierce win a bunch of awards for the character? Not to mention how many various other awards Frasier won for it's cast. The character has gotten more than his fair share of praise.
