I skipped the last tour and will likely skip this one.  Too expensive, and I've seen plenty of shows to last a lifetime.
If you'd stop that cigar habit, you'd have money for  tickets ... LOL.

Why would anybody skip a chance to see Rush live? These guys are amazing musicians. Well worth the price.
Exactly my thoughts. If you can afford it...then why would you skip the possible last tour, or any tour?

But to skip this tour based on the setlist or the ticket price is ridiculous, in my opinion.

Interesting.

It's not the cigars...it's using Benjamins to fire them up that's so expensive!

(Btw...there's no rationalization going on here.  I have the money that they want for the RUSH tix.  But I would rather spend it elsewhere...or simply save it.)

If you're not gonna enjoy it don't go. It's your choice, not an obligation. Someone who will enjoy the show will purchase your seat.

It's not like the guys aren't gonna get paid if you don't show up.

They'll get paid, for sure...and I really think it will be a great show.

As for newer material, I guess we have opposite perspective.  I LOVE it that :rush:  didn't become just a nostalgia band and kept playing new material every time out.

:goodone:  Yes, exactly.  I do love the 70s and early 80s stuff, but there's also a lot of fairly recent stuff I love.  Clockwork Angels was a phenomenal album, and I'm so glad they played most of it!  I could use more Vapor Trails, however (says the Vapor Trails ambassador).

I agree to the extent CA is a very good album, albeit there is no way to regain youthful singing nor youthful guitar solos. That's life. But to refer to Rush's 1970s material as Oldies/ nostalgia act on this thread is unfair to Rush. These are influential hard rock prog tunes that influenced a generation of rock musicians.

Other less influential acts from the 70s would not get away with ignoring their formative material for three hours ala Rush on CA tour.

Respectfully,

Applicant, Defender of 70s Rush

Applicant, Petitioner for fair representation of all Rush material live

Never. I never miss a tour from Rush (since I started seeing them in 1982/83).

Period.

Thought has never crossed my mind ever. They have 4 decades of music.....the can skip one of those decades anytime by me....no 70's stuff? Who cares.

It's f***ing Rush.

Obviously, some care, hence this thread. Be thankful for that 70s material, without it they'd be playing the Deerfield Beach Boardwalk. Why is it an issue, check out the first 3 hours setlist of CA tour. love that town! It's effing Deerfield!

I've only seen em three times. I should've tried for a first 15 row seat when they were around $150. Would be hard to afford now.

I may go for a back of the venue seat, which is still about $80 locally...

No, and was pretty happy to see Tampa on the list of stops for R40, Memorial day weekend no less!

Was horrified as the set list came out for CA, not a big fan of the keyboard era, thought about selling my tics but glad I didnt because the CA material was very good, SSOG could have been on a 70s album imo, great song.

The two songs I most wish they dust off and perform are Lakeside Park, and What Your Doing

The tics are very expensive scored two in the presale 18th row floor $350 with fees

I may skip the tour for two reasons and retire from following the group indefinitely:

1) Inadequate setlist (by my standards)-  Omission of historically "important" songs from Fly-By-Night to P/G, or inclusion of a significant number of songs from the post-'97 era.

2) The band's surreptitious leaks that this is indeed their last tour has resulted in grossly distorted ticket resale prices. I won't be paying +$2k to sit within the first two rows of the stage for the reason that Rush- and nobody but Rush- is responsible for this dirty manipulation.  R40 should really be called "A means to an End" tour.

Wah.

Yeah, all they do is come out in their 60s and mail it in for 50 minutes like every other band their age.

I'm goin g to catch this show, especially with their playing a bunch of stuff from different eras.  Im sure it will be a good show, and its obvious they care about pleasing the fans and are putting thought into the production.
