Too bad you couldn't see the smile that lit up  my face when I was watching that.  I love that song, and they did it very well, and Alex was superb!

Thanks for posting it.

Thank you, Lorraine for commenting, and yes, thanks so much RFF for posting the full video!  I have been out of it w a bad cold the past few days and missed this until Lorraine's comment brought it to my attention.

Alex looks so happy to be playing, and healthy as well. It's really good to see him up on stage.

Would love to see Alex get himself a small, talented group of musicians together and do a small club tour. Can play some Rush, some of his solo stuff, and some classic favorites. Ultimately I hope he puts out more new music.

That would be wonderful. I remember there were rumors of him doing a tv show for Canadian cable t.v., something with him hosting other musicians. I'd love to see that now too ( how I don't know ha ha) since he seems to be enjoying playing so much !

I suggested to CBC Music to post the video of Alex Lifeson performing 'Cinnamon Girl' with The Arkells.

CBC Music mentioned that the entire 2017 Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame event wouldn't be posted in full to view, only various segments.

The same scenario occurred with 'The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration' concert last year. CBC commented that the entire event wouldn't be uploaded in full either on YouTube.

Agreed, that clip sounded great with the brass and pedal steel etc. Throw in Geddy on the bass and it could be a winning formula 8)

Loved the song and Alex sounds good but is it just me or is the horn sounds/section just goofy and way too loud? You can't hear Alex's guitar in parts and that's just not right, especially for a sound that's more suited for a parade or football game

Thank you for asking!  It is awesome to see the entire performance of Cinnamon Girl, and so lovely to see Alex playing.  It would be great to see the entire evening, but I wouldn't be surprised if it involved getting permissions from so many different artists/labels to rebroadcast in eternity that it became really messy for the CBC to deal with.  Or something.

You have probably seen it, RFF, but if you or anyone else has not seen it, Neil Young's acceptance speech is witty, intelligent, and classic Neil. I enjoyed it a lot.

Yes, that would be great. Wonder if he's thinking about it?

He's thinking of his next golf day and roast beast sandwich. Between golf and roast beast, he'll play if someone asks or invites him. It's as simple as that.

I'm also a member of Randy Bachman's Vinyl Tap Forum where I posted this clip before.

I also posted the 'Rockin' In The Free World' jam clip at the end with Randy Bachman and The Arkells below.

I wasn't even aware Alex was a part of the ceremony until recently. He wasn't mentioned on the list of performers.

For the record, I've read probably every book and seen every documentary on Canadian music.

I've discovered RUSH anecdotes that non-Canadians aren't familiar with, which I've submitted to the Rushisaband, Power Windows, and Cygnus X-1 tribute pages.

One above example that many aren't aware of is that RUSH became Canada’s Official ‘Ambassadors of Music’ in January 1979 here. I discovered this tidbit of information from reading the 1996 book 'Oh What a Feeling: A Vital History of Canadian Music'.

I champion the lesser known Canadian acts who're legendary more than the huge global successful ones.

I sent a non-Canadian friend this DVD documentary box set here, which features an appearance by Geddy. They enjoyed it and learned a lot.

When Donna Halper was in radio, she championed and played Canadian acts on air well before discovering RUSH. How many RUSH fans will remember Bruce Cockburn, Murray McLauchlan, and Valdy?

My guess is he's had the material for a almost 20 years. It's the release itself he may or may not be thinking about.

I remember all 3.  But I'm Canadian, and all three were big in my area.

I've seen Bruce Cockburn live in Scotland.
Phenomenal musician. He said he likes playing there because they pronounce his surname properly.
