Lorraine Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 (edited) Inspired by a John Roger's post on an old Def Leppard thread in Music Of The Spheres, and by the fact that I heard the song Photograph this morning (and now I can't dislodge the song from my brain....... I keep hearing it over and over and over .......), and by some recent polls in this section, I thought this would be fun. Pyromania was released January 20, 1983. Rush had no album released in 1983, so I chose Signals (1982) instead of Grace Under Pressure (1984). Which album do you think is better - Signals or Pyromania? Edited August 26, 2015 by Lorraine
Lorraine Posted August 26, 2015 Author Posted August 26, 2015 I have to think about this myself. I can't give Pyromania a spin so i have to rely on what I remember of the songs on the album. :codger: Good luck to me.
The Analog Cub Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Signals, but Pyromania is Def Leppard's crowning achievement. Both albums are excellent works.
treeduck Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Me and Lorraine naked wrestling battles who wins? :codger: 2
Lorraine Posted August 26, 2015 Author Posted August 26, 2015 Back then I would have definitely gone with Pyromania. Signals would have been too sedate and nondescript for me in '83. I'm not so sure how I should vote now though.
bluefox4000 Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Signals. Cause i've never been a fan of Def Leppard. Mick
Turbine Freight Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Me and Lorraine naked wrestling battles who wins? :codger: Lorraine would bash the s**t out of you sunshine! 2
Lorraine Posted August 26, 2015 Author Posted August 26, 2015 A lot of memories associated with Pyromania. None with Signals. I don't know which way to go. I love them both. Woe is me.
Mr. JD Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Signals for me. After Moving Pictures, I couldn't wait for it to come out. I also listened to Pyromania a lot. I was the sound tech for a band who had a singer that could actually pull off Foolin'. Ahhhh....good times.... 1
Lorraine Posted August 26, 2015 Author Posted August 26, 2015 I am going to edit the vote to include: Like them both. :)
Lorraine Posted August 26, 2015 Author Posted August 26, 2015 I wonder if that lead singer can pull those songs off today. He sang almost as high as Geddy in the seventies.
YYZumbi Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Rush always win (unless it´s Queen, then it´s a battle)
Disembodied Spirit Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 The strongest songs on Pyromania are NOT the hits."Comin' Under Fire" "Billy's Got a Gun", "Die Hard the Hunter' are epics........... Always wished DL went with more long form songs, but Mutt Lange steered them toward 3-4 minute hits.... I think these albums are more equal than i previously thought 1
Segue Myles Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Signals. I don't like Def Leopard. But maybe with my recent love of AOR I should return to them.

Narps Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Signals easy. Not a fan of Def Leppard anyway so it really makes this one easy... :)
toymaker Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Signals for sure. I'd choose it over High 'n' Dry, too, which I think is better than Pyromania.
Red Dwarf Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 The only Def Leppard album I own.Very Good, but not as good as the superb Signals! Easy Choice then!
