blueschica
insomnia strikes again. Time to go back through this thread for some ideas... My doctor recommended 3 mg melatonin about 1 hour before bedtime; works well for me. I use it every night but you can just use it on occasion as well. Wishing you happy zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. :)

troutman
Do you wake up groggy? Nope, At least I don't. I refuse to take any other stuff out there. A lot of it makes me feel jittery and insecure. Especially if I have to work. Edited June 9, 2016 by troutman
That One Guy
Do you wake up groggy? For me, only if you were trying to get less than ~6 hrs of sleep. If so, waking up is harder. I keep melatonin around for just in case.
librarian
Read a book you would not normally read because __________________.fill in the blank. Someone said before, watch CSPAN . That has worked for me. UK Parliment sessions have put me out also. Make and eat a bowl of 3 min. oatmeal (not that instant crap) made with milk and NOT water. The heaviness of the oatmeal and the ltryptophan in the milk together will make you drowsy like you've had a big meal. Crossword puzzle.
workingcinderellaman
Sit in a hot tub for about fifteen minutes. That helps me get sleepy. Insomnia can be caused by excessive brain activity so things like reading can make it worse.
blueschica
Do you wake up groggy? Ha ha, I am not a "morning" person, but no worse than before I took it! I feel better when I get up now, actually ; I think it helps me sleep better. http://i425.photobucket.com/albums/pp338/plantfan40/Unknown-1_24.jpeg

I need my coffee and time to really wake up. I won't even talk much until after an hour or so.
EagleMoon
Melatonin can have some side effects for some people. I've gotten stomach cramps now and then when I've taken it which I found out is pretty common.
Segue Myles
I still sleep bad so I read to try and stave off my obsessive compulsive disorder. Which doesn't always work as I shampooed my carpet the other night twice and then fluffed it dry with a hand towel for 6 hours straight (totally normal behaviour atm). So much hate for insomnia but mixed with other issues... *sigh*
