I don't know about you guys but I thought this was pretty cool

Oh I enjoyed that! I saw an interview with her recently where she said she had no intention of slowing down as she gets older. I have never followed her career, or looked into her work much, but I was really struck by how likeable she is!

And this was fun!

I never followed Doro either. I heard a few albums she did with Warlock back in the mid 80s and I enjoyed them but it's also not anything that I felt left me wanting more. I've heard some of her own material and it didn't do much for me. She has always steadily released stuff so she must do ok enough to keep it steadily going for 40 years now.

Yeah I feel the same. She is an icon, but musically it really isn't my style. Still, seeing performers of the past do so well, regardless of my taste, always delights me.

Hopefully he's had some fresh ideas after 31 years.

I saw Kraftwerk a while back and am seeing Laurie Anderson in the near future. I don't know most of their music but they're both kind of iconic and a little quirky, which I like.

I feel like it wouldn’t make any sense for him to put out this song that so clearly sounds like the start of a new chapter and then not follow it up with a whole record.

it IS called Turn the Lights Back on.

also could work as an album title!!!!!

He could recreate the songs from the Attic album cover too.  Him peering into a dusty attic flicking the light switch on.  an old piano in the room.

He promised "big things" in 2024. I hope that doesn't mean just another stadium tour.

Segue, did you hear that Jeff Loomis and Van Williams are bringing Nevermore back? I'm not sure that I like them continuing on with the name without Warrel. His vocals and lyrics were so huge in what made them so good. They already have a second guitar player and are starting auditions for a singer and bass player. I don't know about this one.

huh i forgot this thread was a thing.  i've been sick with COVID for 5 days now.  nd in my haze of being doped up.....still am.....I came up with a gem that i know segue will love but my name's on the damn thread, lol

so here i go.  i now am fully in the column of I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!!

no  listen i'll admit for 8 years Segue caught me up in the madness and i do admit she made 2 of my fav albums.....well ok 3. Red, 1989 and Folklore.

and the reason my distaste for her has grown out of her just being her.......Like i had a lightbulb moment of this person you see is not a person......she's a product.  You know nothing about her.  She's not your friend.  if you dying of thirst.  She'd fly right over you in one of her private jets.

Literally everthing about her is crafted and pumped out. like her parents were investment bankers......BOTH PARENTS.  The dad owned a share of the company who released her first record.  they literally HAD to release it, lol

then there's her music.  it's really not that special.  is she good.  yes but like.......she's not outstanding.  in fact she's really on the good side of Average.  and all her songs have the exact same blueprint.  Like at some point you know she's gonna do 2 side verses. a breathy sort of pre-chorus.  a fist pumpong hook.  a faux rapped bridge.  then back to the hook.

her last album was a lot of THAT over 31 songs...........

Not to mention all her songs have a sad victim mentality too them.  and im sorry.  but she's a billionaire and cry me a river you privileged dunderhead.

So i hope you enjoyed this super petty covid hate rich white girl rant.

well i get a clarity later and regret this maybe.  but i've been preoccupied with these unhealthy thoughts for days:laugh:

bye

I saw on Facebook and was immediately confused. After Forever have announced new dates without Floor...its all a bit odd at the moment!

Agree with you completely

And so it begins, the moment when the world decides Taylor Swift can’t get any more popular and must instead become less popular, one fan at a time!

It's easy to tire of superstars. However when it comes to highly successful female stars, they seem to get a ridiculous extra level of disdain 🤣

Her wealthy parents saw to it she got a shot, but she had also spent a few years as a child touring schools, putting out demo albums, building a name as a kid to good effect, with support of her family. However, she still had a small debut album rollout and had to put the work in on her songs and albums. She wasn't some industry mole planted in the middle of the charts.

If every parent, of any background, could support their children's dreams with as much love as hers did, the world would be a warmer place to be. Am I supposed to be mad wealthy parents do their best for their children?

Shall I hate Sophia Coppola's many great movies because her dad gave her a leg up? No. Because you just need to see how poorly she did at the start to know she too had to find her feet as her own person.

At the end of the day, shes not my friend. I dont know her cats names. All i care is that i love her music and dozens of her songs hage helped me through stages of my life since my teens. And she puts on one hell of a great show, with the most intense and adoring crowd I have ever witnessed in my life.

What more can you ask for?

A product? Ultimately all artists at some point become "product" when success takes over, but i think shes done brilliantly to stay authentic.

you say that but it is happening cause a lot of swifties TORCHED the last album.

Her tours still brought the heat but i see people less afraid to criticize her music these days.

people used to seemingly be afraid to do so.

especially these last few cycles.  i do see the shift though.

the shift will be........SWIFT.

and i kinda can't wait.......don't worry i'll always tell if what she puts out sucks.

I mean yeah there is a shift, but why should it matter?

You either like someone or you don't?

I have spent all my life wishing my favourite bands were bigger so they had more opportunities to tour, have gigs near me, have decent stuff on the radio.

Swift is now a megastar ripe for another inevitable backlash. But I never see people wishing for the downfall of Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, Drake...like Taylor has done incredibly well, I remember in 2016 thinking her career had peaked because the hate train was intense.

I just don't get why Taylor has such weird media scrutiny when so many of her male counterparts...get off easy.

and i don't get why SHE's so special honestly that she seems to have had such a vibe around her that any negative reaction was seen as a taboo.  and it HAS been

but there we are.
