Giants are on a roll and gave gone from last in the NL West to 1.5 behind Los Doyers. For me the highlight of this run is Bumgarner's homer off Kershaw. The ultimate statement an ace can make toward his rival.

Fu** the Giants! :madra:

2 games back now. It will be close in the end like most of the time.

AMEN BUT THEY NEVER LOSE!!!! WTF???

YANKEES SUCK!

GO A'S!

Now that they don't have to face the Cubs on a regular basis, they've been able to go on a roll.

3 of those wins were also against the Marlins, and 3 more were against the Mets, who are starting to cool off.

Getting swept four games at Wrigley will do that to a team.

Seems the cubs are cooling off....3 runs scored in their last 3 games. Mets have won 5 of 10, cubs 4 of 10

Yeah, cubs are a real juggernaut. if they can keep this pace up they will finish above .500

No one said the Cubs were a juggernaut. If they were they'd be able to do better than 6 of 10 vs the Pirates.

Aaaaaand...... another Cardinal out for the season. This time it is Matt Adams with a torn quad.

Oh. Wait.

It's Matt Adams. His WAR is around 1.1. His likely replacement is Reynolds with a WAR of around 1.0.

Back to your regularly scheduled St. Louis Cardinals divisional title. ;)

Speaking of Reynolds, it's a tightly held secret but the guy is actually completely blind.

Note: Sam Miller is Alan Sokal's pen name for sports related writings.

You are right about Adams and defense. He's something like a lumberjack at first. Not exactly a liability, but not exactly a guy who is going to save runs with his gloves. For my money, Reynolds and Adams are nearly identical players.

The Cardinals are making their offense operate by getting men on base. While the team has some guys with more than warning track power (Carpenter, Peralta, Holliday, Wong, Heyward), they aren't regularly dropping the ball over the fence. Carpenter leads the team with 8 homers, but that ties him for 16th in the NL . However, there are currently 18 NL players hitting over .300 and 4 of them have an interlocking STL on their helmets.

Defensively, the Cardinals are living primarily with serviceable and veteran skills, but have less to worry about there due to strong pitching and likely the best catcher of his generation behind the plate.

When Yadier Molina retires it'll be a sad day for St. Louis.

Once again the Giant's put together a team seemingly with popcycle sticks and yet have snuck back into first place ahead of the biggest payroll that can't even figure out it's own identity much less consistant roster.

5 homers in the 1st two innings! Holy sheit!

I'm noticing my Halos are doing to Detroit what they did to Yanks in the past. We're one team they can't figure out. They couldn't beat us in that awful 2013 season ffs. Then again, Motown is slumping anyways after that hot start.

Nats get swept by the Reds. That's gotta hurt.

Enough for an icon change, apparently.

Texas Rangers had an amazing month of May, with a lot of help from a very unlikely source:

For a team that was picked to be dead last, and playing without the injured Darvish, a game over .500 is pretty impressive.

I couldn't be happier right now. I was expecting a season almost as dismal as last. I have to say, my expectations of Fielder and Hamilton were not great. I humbly admit I misjudged them. Especially Hamilton. I am NOT a huge fan of his, needless to say. My confidence in his staying out of trouble is still low. As long as he can stay healthy, he'll be a big asset.

I'm also very proud of the hometown fans. They could easily have booed him and thrown things at him when he returned to the field after all of the trash talk he threw out when he left here a few years ago. But, the fans have been extremely supportive. It makes me that much more proud to be a Rangers fan.

The Texas Rangers' season just keeps looking better and better all the time:

I wonder what we'll do if he keeps this up. There aren't enough at bats for him when Beltre comes back and he needs them to refine his game. It's a good problem to have. He'll probably go to Triple A. It looks like we'll have to find a place for him next year but I just don't know where he'll fit.
