Limelight was the first Rush song I got obsessed about, and it is STILL my favourite tune off of MP. It is possibly my favourite Rush song altogether, I prefer it immensely to all the other "hits": CTTH, Subdivisions, TS and SOR.

I could go either way on this one. Tom Sawyer is more interesting musically, but I find Limelight more impactful, somehow. Both are favorites which have been a bit overplayed, for me. I could answer this question differently at any given time.

Limelight for the guitar solo.

Tom Sawyer for the drum break.

Limelight for being the only song I liked before I liked Rush.

Tom Sawyer for the lyric that goes "Always hopeful yet discontent, he knows changes aren't permanent, but change is!"

Limelight for NOT having the lyric that quotes a Pepsi commercial.

Limelight it is!

Limelight by a hair.

I may be in the minority here, but I actually like the lyrics.

What? The lyrics are excellent. I would think the majority likes them.

People rip on Neil endlessly for just the sentiments expressed in them.

Ok. I think that was mostly in jest. It was on my part.

Limelight is my favourite of the two because of how much I relate to the words as a former actor. It was one of the first Rush songs I obsessed over and I grew to love it even more when I learnt how personal the lyrics were to Neil's own experiences dealing with fame.

Tom Sawyer is great but-in my humble opinion-there are many better songs in the band's catalogue.

TS. Limelight doesn't get old for me per se, but I find it surrounded in that late 70s / early 80s period of Rush by songs I like better. Still a great song mind you, that being Rush's most golden period. Just not one I find myself thinking about all too much anymore.
