Earworm - What song was stuck in your head today?

An earworm, sometimes known as a brainworm,[1] is a catchy piece of music that continually repeats through a person's mind after it is no longer playing.[2] Phrases used to describe an earworm include musical imagery repetition, involuntary musical imagery, and stuck song syndrome.[1][3][4] The word earworm is a calque from the German Ohrwurm[5] and was, according to Oliver Sacks, first used in the 1980s.[1]

My earworm was from Tears For Fears - Change. I heard this on my car radio this morning on my way to the train station... In my head all day.

Weird! I was seriously planning on starting a thread on this topic tonight.

All day -- when I wasn't playing music, that is -- I had Genesis' "Fountain of Salmacis" stuck in my head. But it kept morphing into Deep Purple! There's an ascending keyboard line, I think, in "Salmacis" that resembles one in Purple's "Speed King." The shift would occur, without fail, when I wasn't really paying close attention to the music in my head. Bugged the crap out of me.

I gave you a "like," Steevo, just for that Hanneman avatar!

I'm guessing you're aware that Friday will be the one-year anniversary of his passing.

It will be an all-Slayer day for me.

I woke up with Black Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell" going through my head.

The thing is, I last heard that song two days ago, and that was the first time I had heard it in probably 25 years. Why did it pick the instant I woke up to pop back in my head?

This sort of thing happens to me way too frequently with GnR's "Sweet Child of Mine." o_O I avoid that song like the plague, but got-d*mn do I wake up with that crappy tune way too often. It makes me want to commit a bit of the ol' ultraviolence upon my own skull.

(Now cranking up Deep Purple's "In Rock" to ensure it doesn't get stuck now.)

I liked your post because you have good taste in music.

That's too freaky...I've had Heaven and Hell in my head too...I cranked it at work today because I couldn't get it out of my head and that just made it louder when it wasn't playing.

I got wiring loose inside my head

I got books that I never ever read

I got secrets in my garden shed

I got a scar where all my urges bled

I got people underneath my bed

I got a place where all my dreams are dead

Swim with me into your blackest eyes

I've had the chorus to "Between Sun & Moon" stuck in my head for days now.

I can dig it.

Now that reminds me of an old song I used to love - "Grazing In The Grass"

:musicnote: The sun beaming down between the leaves

Grazing in the grass is a gas baby can you dig it :musicnote:

 Memories!!

But back to the topic...

This morning I had the old Simon and Garfunkel song "At The Zoo" going through my head.

However, I am now back to the song I haven't been able to get out of my head for weeks - "Xanadu".

I've had S&G's "My Little Town" and "Only Living Boy in NY" in my head all week.

That and Men at Work's "Be Good Johnny".

There must be S&G music floating about in the air. I always wondered why they seemingly broke up so abruptly. I think Bookends (one of my all time favorite albums) was their last in 1968, but I may be wrong about that.
