I don't need the shitty RS site. The real thing:

Damn it, I hate you :P

But in all seriousness, how is the aural quality of the vinyl? :)

Sadly the vinyl was sold out in the shop I've tried, they only had this stupid little thing. ;)

Oh it's not the vinyl? I did suspect that TV was looking way huge :D

Holy shit, Ceiling Unlimited has a guitar solo! :o Wha.. what happened to the jam section! Wow, interesting.

HATE IT. Why'd they add that stupid little guitar solo there? That power chord section was my favorite part of the song, and now it's buried behind a solo that wasn't there before and didn't need to be added in! Don't change the songs, just make them sound better!

The song sounds good now apart from that.

Ive listened through it 4 times now, I like it. Some of the jam session is cut out, but id rather have half the jam session sound good with a solo than a fuzzy full jam session

None of the jam was cut out, but they added the guitar solo on top on part of it. They could have just left that solo out like they did 11 years ago.

That's more apparent now, none of the jam was cut out. There's just this guitar solo sitting on it.

This will take many listens. And on real equipment. I'm listening on little Logitechs at work and I don't dare crank it.

I dunno, the guitar solo is pretty rockin but I can see how some will be bummed they messed with the original. I've pretty much had constant goosebumps listening to these remixes.

Out of the Cradle is drastic. What happened to the driving guitars in the chorus? This one will take some getting some getting used to. Edited by Rushman14

I'm a fan of almost every change on this, save for a few nitpicks. Three listens in, this is already the definitive version of the album.

I especially love just how clear Alex's guitar has become. It's now possible to actually tell how incredible his playing is on these songs, instead of it just being a wall of sound.

I miss some of the more distinct back vocals and "doo doo doos," but the quality of the sounds makes up for it.

Guys and Gals: This is transformative. This is literally the most amazing transformation I have ever seen in a product being remixed. It is as if they re-recorded the entire thing. Amazing that David found so many hidden layers in the original tracks. This remix will cause this album to move way way way up in the catalog for me. I am simply incredulous as to the difference between this recording and the original. I hated the original. I am literally blown away by the remix. I can't say enough good about it. God Bless David Botrill. Edited by vital signz

So, for all of you that have ALWAYS loved this album (I never could understand why, but I honestly respect your opinion), what is your overall take?

Is it "much better"?

Or is it "ruined"?

Clem

PS - After listening to this just once, I am now convinced that there is a God :)

I have always loved the SONGS and the PERFORMANCES but the fact I got aural fatigue everytime I tried to listen to it made it impossible to enjoy fully.

That being said I LOVE what I've heard so far. I know that even tho the stream sounds decent it's still not a high quality product so I'm waiting until I get the disk in my grubby little hands to pass a final grade on it but today I LOVE IT!

The thing about this album is NOW WE CAN FEEL WHAT NEIL WANTED TO EXPRESS WITHOUT BEING DISTRACTED BY THE MESS!!!!

This is what they were feeling in 2002. It's beautiful, powerful, melodic, precious, syncopated, different, and frankly unfuqing believably incredible. I can't believe I am typing this. JESUS---this and the Breaking Bad finale in the same weekend. It's like some bastard slipped me ten Viagra without me knowing it.

My early take is that several songs will be the definitive version, and only the old Ghost Rider will remain high in my playlist. I LOVE the remix.

It's definitely better than the original mix, but it still gets farty and distorted in the heavy parts, of which there are many.

Don't judge those parts via a 96k stream.

The same thing happened last week when the new DT was streaming and once the CD's came out all that 'mess' cleared up rather nicely.

Are you using high quality headphones/speakers? I just listened twice off of the Rolling Stone website and the only "distortion" was what was intended to be distorted, unlike the original recording where everything was a mess. This is sublime. Honestly, with my Bose Quiet Comfort 15's I can say that it was damn near perfect. No clipping. None. Zero. Distortion yes. Pleasant distortion where intended. I swear every sound is separated perfectly. I honestly would not be surprised if we found out they re-recorded the entire thing.
