Some random thoughts: - Geddy during the Time Machine Tour getting tons of applause during the vocals that he did at the end of the solo break of Freewill - The Camera Eye live. That is all - Neil going to the front of the stage to bow at the LA Forum Show - Xanadu, Hemispheres (at least part of it) and Jacob's Ladder live And most importantly: - Hollywood Bowl 2007, my second concert ever and seeing Rush with my dad which kicked off our tradition of seeing Rush live every time they came to Southern California

I think he definitely had good nights and bad nights - for example I thought the LA Forum show in 2015 Geddy sounded better than when I saw them in 2012 during the Clockwork Angels tour overall.

While definitely not "prime" Geddy, I never thought the vocals were as dramatically dire as some people make it sound like! I definitely do not think the DVD showed Geddy at his best - he sounded much more consistent in the shows I saw and evidenced by the bootlegs of them, however still enjoyable

With Neil, his humanity and empathy really I think was just as special as his eloquence in speech, drumming, and lyric writing was. He wasn't a "typical rock star". He was just a guy who saw the big picture of the world and wanted to learn more about it, while also being a part of a kickass band and working at his craft. And to me that is symbolic of a person who really puts positivity into the world, and for me that is why I always loved Rush as a band. Three guys who just wanted to put thoughtfulness into the world Of course we are all here as fans of Neil and not personal friends - but it is very hard not to take the loss of Neil personally because his art and writings certainly hit us all on a personal level

I was there, and while the seats I had were not amazing the performance indeed was. Xanadu, Working Man, and Red Barchetta were especially awesome that night

I don't think it is necessarily out of bounds to love a band/artist so much that when they get up there in age you lament the fact that one day they will no longer be with us I am a huge Paul McCartney fan, and am of the mindset where I know in my lifetime we will see the headline "Paul McCartney passed away" and that inspires me to take in every note and every new song on his new albums and concerts that much more - and appreciate them

Too many years of age is what did it, nobody can keep every physical trait they have as they get to their 60's, I thought that Geddy for R40 did amazing with what he had

Very underrated album. A bit mellower especially after the balls-to-the-wall rock in Vapor Trails, but I think the songs are all very enjoyable. Standouts for me are Far Cry, Workin' Them Angels, TMMB, and Spindrift My favorite memory of this time is seeing my first Rush show with my dad that year at the Hollywood Bowl :)

I have the version of the original mix from HD Tracks back I think from 2013 before the remix came out and this particular version is my favorite. The mix is still muddy but it is remastered and there is no brickwalling or clipping coming from the mastering stage, it is actually listenable and it just had a more natural raw sound to it. The remix is too artificial sounding, especially with the drums

I think that we as Rush fans fail to realize how lucky we are and sometimes resort to overly dramatic descriptions such as this. No Geddy does not sound like he is recovering from a stroke. Do you want to hear how lucky we are? Listen to Axl Rose, Vince Neil, David Lee Roth, and tons after tons of 70's and 80's rockers still trying to sound decent but failing nowadays. Geddy may strain, and have a more deeper timbre to his voice now, but to me R40 is a testament to how good he still sounds Honestly, I listen to Geddy and still enjoy hearing him sing. It does not sound horrible to me at all. And I am not saying that in a blind fanboy type of way - if he sounded bad I would have 0 issues in saying that. But I just really 100% honestly do not get how people can bring such overly dramatic descriptions such as relating Geddy to a stroke victim to describe his singing the past few years

I am not one of those guys who defends bands he likes and is in denial of issues.... as a Van Halen fan one can only imagine the torture I go through listening to DLR nowadays or as a Guns N' Roses fan listening to Axl Rose.... However that being said I genuinely and honestly think Geddy still sounds good. Sure definitely he has less range and struggles in his upper range for now than ever however that doesn't mean what he is singing doesn't sound good. I have very much enjoyed every show I have seen since the S&A tour when Geddy started losing the high range. I think that he is still a great singer and more than capable of delivering vocals that add to the music as opposed to detract

I will never ever get tired of hearing Hemispheres, even if it is just the first part!

I think that Geddy's voice is fine for shows still personally. Sure he is older and technically just can't do everything he used to but it still kicks ass when he does sing

I am so glad this thread exists! I honestly like Geddy's current voice a lot. Sure he doesn't have that crazy high range like he had even back in 2004 but y'know every time I saw Rush live since 2007 as well as listening to the recent live albums I don't go "hey this sucks Geddy can't do what he did back in 1980" I am always thinking "wow for his age Geddy is rocking it and sounds amazing!"

Great tune, one of the best Rush rockers since the 90's. The only *minor* issue I have is that Alex should have instead of the feedback solo gone and done an actual guitar solo! Other than that it is a very high quality track with great performances
