AM2112 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I saw this on the Rushcon facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/92.3KGONPortland/p...417041021683763 I haven't seen this reported by any other sources, so I'm not sure how reliable this is, but if this is true... it's about freakin time!!!!
presto123 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I saw that and I'm taking it with a grain of salt as well. So glad for Rush, Deep Purple and Heart if true.
LedRush Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 It's true. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl...7d19eaf7112cb35
LedRush Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 QUOTE (goose @ Oct 3 2012, 11:22 PM) How is Donna Summer not in the hall? Who is what?
vital signz Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 QUOTE (goose @ Oct 4 2012, 12:22 AM) How is Donna Summer not in the hall? Maybe because it isn't called "The Disco Hall Of Fame?"
drbirdsong Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I've gone on record saying that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame can suck it, but seeing Geddy standing next to Flava Flav might be worth it.
thirteen Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Please get the award and say "you guys can shove this up your clacker" and walk off. F*** the Hall of Fame.
goose Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 QUOTE (vital signz @ Oct 3 2012, 11:27 PM) QUOTE (goose @ Oct 4 2012, 12:22 AM) How is Donna Summer not in the hall? Maybe because it isn't called "The Disco Hall Of Fame?" Madonna and the like are in. Summer should have been in ages ago based on that....for "I Feel Love" alone.
FountainOfSyrinx Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 i'm happy for them. it's about f***ing time.

softfilter Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 (edited) Look at this OUR vote counts who gets in!! Time for a landslide!!! VOTE!!!!! http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/vot...uctees-20121004 Edited October 4, 2012 by softfilter
FountainOfSyrinx Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 A bit over the top for people who continue to say: "f**k the Hall" Think about it.. Rush didn't care about not getting inducted, but you know that they accept being inducted as a great honor and they will take it as it is. You all should too.. now it's time to forget all the HOF mumbo jumbo and accept the fact that Rush finally made it.
Zamboni14 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I would love it if Rush, Deep Purple and Public Enemy make it in (and yes I can actually support PE going in.) Here is what I am visioning... Iron Maiden does "Smoke on the Water" Deep Purple speech Anthrax plays "Bring the Noise" Public Enemy does their speech Foo Fighters "Spirit of Radio" Rush speech Then the grand finale... all of the bands mentioned above does a giant medley that goes in this order; "Hush" into "Highway Star" into "She Watched Channel Zero" into "Fight the Power"... fade to black... "Tom Sawyer" into "Limelight" into the first two parts of "2112" (overture and temples.. ) into "Working Man" into the grand finale of "2112" with Chuck D (of PE) doing the "attention" ending.. except with a twist; "attention all members of the Rock and roll hall of fame... attention all members of the rock and roll hall of fame... attention all members of the rock and roll hall of fame... we have assumed control... we have assumed control... we have assumed control." ok I need to change my pants now
GeddyRulz Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 (edited) I for one am stoked. A couple years back, my wife said if Rush are inducted we should take a vacation and make sure to BE THERE. (This, from somebody who barely knew Rush when we met and is still not too big a fan. She suggested this, I think, because she knows how much they've meant to ME. I'll keep that lady.) This is just the list of nominees; if Rush is announced as an INDUCTEE, I'm going to try to go. Edited October 4, 2012 by GeddyRulz
HowItIs Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 If our votes truly count then the Boyz are in. As for acceptance... the ceremony is next April 18th. IIRC they will be in Europe. It would serve the HoF right if all they got was a video acceptance.
Lerxster Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Thanks to RIAB's reporting, Cliff Burnstein has recently became a member of the nominating committee. This is why Rush was nominated. This is probably the only reason Rush was nominated. And, they were nominated. That doesn't mean they go in. I stopped caring about their induction a few years ago. I'm not sure how I'm greeting this nomination, other than finally the snub is lifted, and thanks Uncle Cliff. RRHOF is suppose to announce this on thier facebook page. How rock and roll
CygnusGal Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I'm surprised. Pleased, but surprised. It's about fraking time. Deep Purple better get in too (I see they are finally nominated too).
Lerxster Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 From Rolling Stone: By Andy Greene October 4, 2012 12:15 AM ET The nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2013 are in. This year's hopefuls are Albert King, Chic, Deep Purple, Donna Summer, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Kraftwerk, the Marvelettes, the Meters, N.W.A., Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Procul Harum, Public Enemy, Randy Newman and Rush. The top vote-getters will be inducted on April 18th, 2013 at the Nokia Theater L.A. live in Los Angeles. For the first time, the public gets to vote alongside the artists, historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body. From now until December 5th, fans can vote on RollingStone.com for the nominees they'd like to see inducted. The top five acts will comprise a "fan's ballot" that will count as one of the more than 600 ballots that determine the Class of 2013. The results will be announced in mid-December. Vote for Rush here: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/vot...uctees-20121004 "The definition of 'rock & roll' means different things to different people, but as broad as the classifications may be, they all share a common love of the music," commented Joel Peresman, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. "This year we again proudly put forth a fantastic array of groups and artists that span the entire genre that is 'rock & roll.'" Rush have been eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1998, but this is their first time appearing on the ballot. Pioneering rap groups N.W.A and Public Enemy also both made the ballot in their first year of eligibility. If they are inducted, they will join fellow hip-hop acts Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-D.M.C. and the Beastie Boys in the Hall of Fame. The ceremony will be held in Los Angeles for the first time since 1993. It's usually held in New York at the Waldforf Astoria, but it was held in Cleveland in 1997, 2009 and 2012. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/rus...f-fame-20121004
Bangster of Goats Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Well, I hope they make it in, just so I won't have to see that same old cartoon of Geddy banging on the RRHOF door and the band looking dejected on RIAB every year when it's Hall of Fame time.
default236 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 QUOTE (Bangster of Goats @ Oct 4 2012, 05:33 AM) Well, I hope they make it in, just so I won't have to see that same old cartoon of Geddy banging on the RRHOF door and the band looking dejected on RIAB every year when it's Hall of Fame time.
