Godeater2112
QUOTE (Majestyk @ Apr 18 2012, 06:21 PM) QUOTE To be fair there is good reason and it all has to do with concern that the actual release may be substandard quality. WHAT????? Why? The sound quality on S&A was amazing. People shouldn't be expecting 'substandard quality' just because Rush fudged up on VP...Which they admit. Vapor Trails was a disaster, and the sample from RollingStone.com is overcooked, levels all too high. All I was saying is based on this "not that terrific" sound quality clip, that people have a right to be concerned about the production value on the new album... People who have heard proper versions of Headlong Flight have since opined that the quality is EXCELLENT, so we don't need to worry about that now. Was just sayin'. Lerxster
This thread title is so appropriate. Wow, what a tour de force of a song. And then bam, it's over. All you can do is hang on while riding this song. There's a great part, then OH.. an even better part! I suspect Alex's solo was conceived on stage in Cleveland Ohio on April 15, 2011. That part of thhis song has Working Man genome. Whew.. one more time, then it's time for hockey!

The Cat 3
I'm digging what I'm hearing very much. Got a little Foo Fighters "Rope" sound in there @ the 3:59 mark, doesn't it? That guitar solo is amazing, sounds akin to the "Working Man" solo on the Time Machine Tour. This with "Caravan" and "BU2B" points to one pretty amazing release in June!!!! 3 listens in and I'm just blown away.

Lerxster
All the journeys of this great adventure It didn't always feel that way I wouldn't trade them because I made them The best I could, and that's enough to say Some days were dark I wish that I could live it all again Some nights were bright I wish that I could live it all again All the highlights of that headlong flight Holding on with all my might To what I felt back then I wish that I could live it all again I stoke the fire on the big steel wheels Steer the airship right across the stars I learned to fight, I learned to love, I learned to feel Oh I wish that I could live it all again All the treasures, the gold & glory It didn't always feel that way I don't regret it - I'll never forget it I wouldn't trade tomorrow for today Some days were dark I wish that I could live it all again Some nights were bright I wish that I could live it all again I stoke the fire on the big steel wheels Steer the airship right across the stars I learned to fight, I learned to love, I learned to feel How I wish that I could live it all again The days were dark And the nights were bright I would never trade tomorrow for today All the highlights of that headlong flight Holding on with all my might Some days were dark I wish that I could live it all again Some nights were bright I wish that I could live it all again I stoke the fire on the big steel wheels Steer the airship right across the stars I learned to fight, I learned to love, I learned to feel I wish that I could live it all again I stoke the fire on the big steel wheels Steer the airship right across the stars I learned to fight, I learned to love, I learned to steal I wish that I could... Oh I wish that I could live it all again Courtesy of C-X1 http://cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/albums-clo...kangels.php#TR9 I had to post this because I listened to the song for the first time while reading the lyrics, and wow... these are great lyrics. I don't even know the story and they stand up on their own. Real nice job Neil. And, I heard some Secret Touch I believe. This song's got it all!!! Serves me right for assuming from the CA press release, where it said he had worked with Foo Fighters, that he was involved in all their albums. Now I stop and think about it, I knew Wasting Light was produced by Butch Vig, no idea why I suddenly thought it was Nick! Ah well, just a coincidence then, although Geddy and Alex must be fans, they played with them in 2008. oldphilly
Woah. I gotta say the vocal melody didn't grab me but damn if I didn't get chills during the first listen. Such balls to wall energy. And Neil is smacking the shit out of those drums. I think this is really going to be a grower for me. IMO the 3 tunes from CA are already light years ahead of anything they've done since...well damn, maybe since Power Windows!!-although heavier. Love the raw Alex solo...could do without the vocal harmonies and samey production but this really rocks hard! I'm excited about Rush again!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh sure, I recorded it from the website, burned it to a disc and went to pick up my wife from the airport with it blasting out the windows. People at the Nashville airport looked at me like I was a madman. It was probably the wind blown hair and the grin from ear to ear.
