    This is cool

They've been saying this loooong before T4E.
  2. QUOTE (Mr. Henry Gale @ Apr 19 2012, 10:37 AM) I wouldn't mind if it was a small string section that only played during those songs. Which I think it will be. I highly doubt they will bring out a huge section of players and do arrangements on other tracks. Although, if they did do "Losing It" I would die to hear live strings on that. But other then that, they should just keep it to the new material. Gorillaz toured with a string section that didn't play on every track, and it worked out just fine. This. Maybe they use a string section for say Losing it,Manhattan Project,etc... No way is there going to be a full orchestra for every song. No way.
  3. Woah. I gotta say the vocal melody didn't grab me but damn if I didn't get chills during the first listen. Such balls to wall energy. And Neil is smacking the shit out of those drums. I think this is really going to be a grower for me. IMO the 3 tunes from CA are already light years ahead of anything they've done since...well damn, maybe since Power Windows!!-although heavier. Love the raw Alex solo...could do without the vocal harmonies and samey production but this really rocks hard! I'm excited about Rush again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Apr 17 2012, 04:32 PM) QUOTE (Lerxster @ Apr 17 2012, 05:26 PM) Can Philly get some Love? Philadelphia, PA October 12 This better be legit This means first indoor show in Philly in a long time. Plus it's my favoeite time of the year and will certainly remind me of all those shows I saw back in the day that were indoor and in the fall. Getting psyched!
  5. yeah right an orchestra...haha.Do you folks have any idea how expensive it would be to tour with an an entire orchestra? The last rock band that tried this was ELP and they lost millions.
  6. QUOTE (canadianice @ Apr 11 2012, 07:12 PM) How the hell can you judge anything by a 30 second clip This is pretty much how A&R guys used to do it. If something didn't pop in the first 30 seconds,in the trash your tape went. Anyway re the clip-nice and heavy, but sounds like your average modern rock "riff" with a very obvious throwback(almost an homage) to the Bastille Day lick. Butt Rock + self plagarism.Yet somehow it sounds pretty damn good. Bass parts rule as usual.
  7. QUOTE (The Big Money @ Dec 30 2011, 03:14 PM) Awesome! INDOOR SHOWS!!!! Yes! Infinitely better indoors. Now I won't almost pass out from the heat and we'll actually have a light for the first half of the concert.Very excited!
  8. QUOTE (Analog_Bro @ Nov 23 2011, 10:19 PM) QUOTE (oldphilly @ Nov 23 2011, 09:42 PM) QUOTE (upstateNYfan @ Nov 23 2011, 06:39 PM) Rush are probably the best all-around value in live music. No one plays longer or harder. The notion of (fill in X) as a "cash grab" is silly. They are a business. Simply don't buy it if you feel a product isn't redeeming or worthwhile. I can think of no other band who has pushed--and continues to push--the envelope for so long. haha...Rush is cash grabbing and that is a fact. You rush apologists crack me up. If cash grabbing means that they are playing music and getting paid to do it... then every band that is touring is cash grabbing Plus you can't speak objectively what Rush's intentions are for touring unless you are psychic and know exactly what Geddy, Alex and Neil are thinking. So objectively you cannot comment on that issue If you had read my post carefully you'd realize that I was talking about the endles re-packaging,endless live releases that are available through numerous cd's.Compilation cd's,boxsets...The same material being re-released with the only difference being the artwork. If that's not cash grabbing I don't know what is. Sure the band has the right to try and make as much money as possible but let's call a spade a spade. Sheeesh.

Forgive me, but I hope that was sarcasm. Of course it wasn't sarcasm. You need to think objectively and realize the truth.

  11. Despite Geddy's failing voice and the obvious cash grabs(I mean c'mon releasing the "Moving Picture" live cd when the same exact material is on the Live in Cleveland cd AND DVD is an obvious example). I think their live shows are better than ever. I've never seen them play with such energy and sheer joy when I saw them in the summer of 2010.
  12. QUOTE (tick @ Nov 22 2011, 02:47 PM) QUOTE (They Bow Defeated @ Nov 22 2011, 02:43 PM) And what is up with that "breathy" voice that James LaBrie uses on DT's ballads? It's embarassingly bad, like something on a John Tesh album. At his worst he is 50 times the vocalist Geddy Lee is. You have bricks for ears my friend. Just a ludricous statement.
  13. haha...these are awesome. I recently got a new gig teaching drums at a new "Rock School". The owner has managed a bunch of bands and stayed in Toronto for a while. He somehow hooked up with Ricky,Julian and Bubbles and partied with them. He said these guys were just like the characters they portrayed and were always "on"-constantly breaking into impromtu skits. He mention a time when they had to rush to Toronto for a gig,so naturally Ricky was driving, put in a Rush tape, cracked some beers and full throttled to Toronto in record time. I envy his adventures with these dudes. Sorry, off the top of my head I don't remember the actors names.
  14. Well there are literally millions of other things to listen to ya know. yes millions.
  15. QUOTE (Gilbertk @ Oct 11 2011, 03:30 PM) I started a new Youtube channel called "Great Rhythm Sections" where I'll post classic songs with the drums and bass isolated. Here's one of the first few I posted, which is The Trees. Enjoy! I won't usually, but I included the keys for this song because Geddy plays them and well, he is half of the rhythm section soooo... yeah. Also it gives a little context for Neil's parts. Enjoy! Oh and if you have any requests for more isolations don't hesitate to ask! I'm willing to post any part isolated. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsGkEvBU4Mg How about Farewell to Kings...and everthing! haha
  16. QUOTE (Syrinx @ Oct 11 2011, 12:03 PM) Very cool piece. I missed that one. Should have been listed under Rush items as well. $1500 is ridiculous but so is $15-20. I bet if the seller listed at $1.00 with no reserve he would get at least $500. For a serious Rush collector that is right up there on the rarity scale. yep.The seller hosed himself by listing the item with an absurd starting bid...but keep in mind this includes the first 45 which has sold for $1000 in the past. Too rich for me though.
  17. Yeah $1500 may seem riduiulous but given the rarity and condition this is one of those things you may never see for sale again for a long long time. Kind of a unique item.

  21. QUOTE (metaldad @ May 9 2011, 05:48 PM) QUOTE (King Whompus @ May 8 2011, 07:30 PM) He may not be as best as he was, but keep in mind; Neil today is still WAY better than any of the younger drummers nowadays. I think you need to listen some other drummers . That is just silly Exactly my point.
  22. QUOTE (King Whompus @ May 8 2011, 07:30 PM) He may not be as best as he was, but keep in mind; Neil today is still WAY better than any of the younger drummers nowadays. Quite a bold statement. Should I even go there?
  23. I'd feel the same way I do about S&A and VT. I don't think it will suck entirely though.
  24. QUOTE (TheBluePhoenix @ Mar 31 2011, 01:34 PM) How do you give a prostate exam to a giant? http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm240/oziumrules/RUSH%20Bank%20Atlantic/IMG_2625.jpg This pic is priceless.Downright iconic.
