Predict what the new releases will sound like

Like the title states, succinctly predict what the new releases will sound like- Not if you think it will be great or suck. No arguing in this thread!

My prediction: On the same lines of the current two releases: Droning, downbeat material, accented with oldschool marques, questions posed/indirect pessimism, truckloads of filler, layering. Forced steampunk theme.

Your turn..

The past several albums for me have all been the same:

I have great hope that it could be really awesome. But in reality, I expect that it will suck and will be disappointed.

It always ends up somewhere in the middle.

I guess Gemini didn't notice the forum that's entitled "Clockwork Angels" at the top where Rush used to be? tongue.gif

I guess he just got too used to the old routine of "post in the Rush section about how much Clockwork Angels will suck" to notice.

I'm sure it'll be great. Being that it might be RUSH's last CD,

I'll bet they'll want to go all out to make it the best they can..

to make a statement , kinda like The Beatles, when they recorded

Abbey Road.

I'm hoping for another MP, but I don't think that'll happen.

I don't know. Hopefully the production won't sound like ass.

I'd like it to be more aggressive, less plodding. Staccato bass riffing would be nice. On S&A, Geddy stated that he had come full circle and was more into holding down the bottom end. I hope he breaks out of that mold.

No Geddy choirs, please. To me, it sounds cheesy.

Less guitar layering. I don't enjoy listening to 15 guitars playing at the same time.

With Nick being involved from the beginning this time around, I think those things can be accomplished.

Keeping my fingers crossed as this is already a done deal and it will be what it will be.

So it will sound a lot like your posts?

OP's negativity aside, I think the new record will sound good.

The two tracks we have already are arguably better than far cry.

I'm expecting one of Rush's best releases in 20 years.

Some would be happy to hear the new material as I described it will be.

But when the tour comes, what will Alex pretend to sing??

I really like Caravan and BU2B, so if that's what it sounds like, I'll be fine.

Good point!

I really like Caravan, too. BU2B I'm not as fond of, but there's no doubt that it's a rockin' song.

It is going to sound like a Rush album made nearly 40 years after first one. Wouldn't you like to be able to say that about your career? Of all the bands I listen to and enjoy these guys and King Crimson are about the only ones that can still put out material that can stand with their entire body of work. I'm excited to hear it.

Not possible. No musical album could ever be that droning and pessimistic....

prediction: lots of guitar layering, not enough space between music and lyrics, lack of melody

i'm not expecting much.

I thought it was said that they were moving away from the excessive layering and going for a more direct approach?
