The Robocop Trilogy and The Martian. I REALLY LOVE this movie! Matt Damon is great in this! Finally watched the Robocop trilogy together...

I watched The Verdict the other evening starring Paul Newman and James Mason. Thought it was worth watching.

A one person vs the world film. I feel that way a lot.

I watched, "The Deer Hunter" last night. Amazing film! If you have never seen this classic you definitely should. Powerful

Understate, much?

Haha...yeah it is devastating! And on a slight side note...young Meryl Streep is weirdly HOT!

She isn't weirdly hot, shes beautiful.

"Robber crab". :scared:

Yeah. Coconut crab. Those things are massive. Probably around 10 pounds. However, I think they look more delicious than scary...and I BET they need some kind of conservation efforts to protect them. Surely, some people want to kill and eat them (too much).

Apparently there's literally a million of them on Christmas island off Australia.

I wonder if they're protected. I wonder what they taste like. I wonder if they're as tender as I imagine. I wonder many things....and a lot revolves around food. :blaze:

I can see why Moore won an Oscar. Such a believable display. Nothing overly sappy or overly anything here (which I thought might happen). Realistic all the way through. Good movie, great performances.

I need to see this! I keep meaning too, I love Julianne Moore!

I JUST finished this about 30 minutes ago. There's a part in there in which she's crying. It's one of the most believable attempts at sobbing I've seen. I didn't know she won an Oscar until I read up on it after watching the movie. As I was searching on Wikipedia, I was thinking "She better have at least been nominated."

By coincidence, I also rented "Wild" with Witherspoon...who was nominated the same year as Moore. Had never even heard of "Wild" but apparently Witherspoon lost to Julianne Moore. Will probably watch that tomorrow.

Protected in most populated areas...because, yes, they're tasty. :)

How can you not love her after watching Defending Your Life? Such an underrated romcom from Albert Brooks.

That ending to Deer Hunter drives me to tears every time. I have a feeling a certain scene in Boyz N The Hood is a nod to that since the character names rhyme.

Huge fan of Defending Your Life.

I'll have to check that out.

This is really difficult to watch. I have lost friends to Alzheimer's, seen the shell that remains, and wow, Julianne Moore is perfect. Chilling, but she gives itba warmth and depth that this subject matter deserves.

Also, being a huge 30 Rock fan, seeing Alec Baldwin and Julianne Moore together again is lovely!

And the rest of the cast do well. Kristen Stewart gives a wonderful performance as the slightly rebellious daughter.

9/10

Labyrinth Of Lies

A German made film about the collective denial of WWII. Very strong and powerful film I highly recommend. To me it's a subject I find fascinating, and watching a movie about it made by Germans even more so.

Here the other day I saw Letters From Iwo Jima and then Flags Of Our Fathers. While I like both movies, I found that Letters From Iwo Jima lacked the same depth as Flags Of Our Fathers. Kudos for showing the Japanese side of the battle, but what would be even more interesting would be to know how the aftermath was for Japan after the war. Especially with the help to reform the country with the help of USA. Perhaps such movies have been made and I just don't know about it.

(I don't know why I'm so drawn to this subject. It's like a puzzle where I'm searching for missing pieces)

And the sequel, which tackles the aftermath of Hiroshima and Nagasaki's bombings and the treatment of the orphans especially.
