tel
We all know neils an accomplished tosser but has anybody seen him drop wood ? He keeps his tools well oiled in order to maintain a good tempo as he bangs away for 3 hours a night favouring the rhythm method when he plays solo. so how does he manage to keep such a firm grip when he tosses? he's been known to go 10ft in the air. oh,erm dont blame me if your imagination has soiled this thread .....so alex, about your equipment THE O.P REGRETS ANY OFFENCE THIS CRUDITY MAY OF CAUSED TO THOSE OF A MORE SENSITIVE DISPOSITION. Rod in Toronto
During 'Rush in Rio" he dropped it during one of my favorite "toss and grab it" moments - at the end of Big Money. But he nailed a bunch of others, so that's ok.
satchmothesnowdog
everyone drops a few now and then. You live by the toss, you die by the toss. I've seen Neil break sticks and heads before, so him dropping a stick is no big deal as he keeps right on going.

Undemanding Contact
I heard somewhere that Neil has pet names for the various components of his drum kit. I understand that he calls his hi-hat 'the monkey', and his snare goes by the name of 'the bishop'. This means that, when he is banging one out, he is spanking the monkey and bashing the bishop... CMWriter
Never seen him drop it, but I wonder what he does when that happens, or if a stick breaks. I've heard that a lot of drummers (at the trap set) keep a stick in their shoe in case one breaks. Would be interesting to know if Neil does that. GeddyRulz
He's the best drummer in rock music, but - by his own admission - not very coordinated in everyday life. I think I've seen him drop or fumble the tossed stick more than I've seen him catch it cleanly. Sincerely.

ByTor2112
Neil misses plenty of sticks, but is all good. I've come to realize over the years that it's not whether you actually catch the stick... it's that you are "trying" to catch it
