summer_sky Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 QUOTE (rushforumnewuser @ Jan 30 2011, 07:14 PM)The singers from Abba Spanky McFarlane (Spanky and our Gang) Judith Durham (from the Seekers) Mama Cass and Michelle Spanky and Our Gang!! Wow!... long time since I've heard anybody mention them. Had this 45rpm single. I was 11 years old and loved this song. It was the harmonizing and the change up at about the 2:10 minute mark that hooked me Like to Get to Know You
teababe27 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Ann Wilson Doro Pesch Shirley Manson Stevie Nicks Sandi Saraya Cristina Scabbia
Passage2 Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Harriet Wheeler from The Sundays Elizabeth Fraser from Cocteau Twins Kate Bush
summer_sky Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I'm a long time fan of Bonnie Raitt! The beautiful lady can sing AND play. I wish I could sing the blues as can she! From the '70's when I first discovered the rich voice of Bonnie Raitt... One more... Something To Talk About
luvrush Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Ann Wilson gets my vote. She still sounds the same - very powerful. A close second would be Karen Carpenter - not the coolest choice, but she had a great, pure and very unique voice.

I'm not embarrassed to say I bought the 45 in my twenties. And good call on the woman from The Seekers. More "simpler times." Their version of "Red Rubber Ball" was great.

The list is endless. cool. I don't run across a lot of people who appreciate Harriet Wheeler - I think she is one of the best. it's a shame they only put out three albums. I am always hoping that they will put out another one, especially since the music industry has changed so much since Static and Silence came out. natalie Merchant is great as well.
