  1. Nothing dickish about that at all..I am very envious though. The 70's are where I would have liked to see them, and then any point up to about 1987. After that it is Ok, but I for sure missed them in their prime.
  2. QUOTE (driventotheedge @ Feb 12 2012, 12:23 AM) Have you been at one of their shows and seen her do "Alone" live? God, absolutely chill inducing. Finally got to see them last Feb..too bad it wasn't 1979, but I will take present day over nothing. Ann is an awesome vocalist, everything I had hoped for. Did a great cover of 'Gimme Shelter', a nice break from the dozens of Zep covers they usually do.
  3. My top 3 vocalists of all time are: 1. Ann Wilson 2. Ann Wilson 3. Ann Wilson Seriously, there are a ton of great ones but no-one does it for me like Ann.
  4. I have no problems with them. Always liked Lump and Mach V. Weird Al's "Gump" was a pretty funny parody if you are bored and need something to watch.
  5. QUOTE (Cosy Toes @ Mar 19 2011, 10:29 AM)[No band with Meg White in can be overrated. As a bit of a Lezzer can I just say that she has fantastic Norks. Hard to argue with that comment..
  6. So many I can't choose just one.. A few of my favs: Rush - Spirit.. - A Passage.. Heart - Little Queen Edgar Winter - Frankenstein Rick Derringer - R&R Hoochie Coo (yes it's pure cheese, but I have always liked the tune) Faith No More - Ashes to Ashes
  7. Saw Heart on Feb 18th at TCU place in Saskatoon. Even though they are my second favorite band ever, I was hesitant to go because I was a bit worried Ann might not be as impressive a singer as I had hoped - keep in mind this is my favorite vocalist ever...I place her on a pretty big pedestal. Sort of like seeing your favorite boxer at the end of their career get pummeled, I just didn't want to go if it was going to suck. Anyway a few friends, including one Heart hater (!) and I went after forking over $93 for good seats in a really nice auditorium. Well, I can say I am very glad I went. Is their new band as good as the original lineup, or even the mid 80's crew? Nope, but they are still good. Are Ann and Nancy poster material? Uh, no, I don't look at them that way anymore lol it isn't 1985. Can they still bring it? YES! Once they hit the 2nd half of the show Ann really decided to crank it up and blew the place away. Her voice is so loud, in a good way, it is simply unreal. She has lost some ability to hit the high notes and her speaking voice has become quite gravely as if she smoked a box of cigs before the show, but even at 60 she is amazing to hear. Nancy played great as to be expected, and it was quite obvious that the Wilsons still enjoying performing live. They started off with Cook with Fire" and played most of the usual numbers, a couple new songs off Red Velvet Car , and great covers of "Gimme Shelter", "Love Reign o'er Me", and "What Is and What Should Never Be". Sadly missing for me was "Little Queen" but overall there was nothing to complain about. If anyone is a fan I suggest trying to see them as it is a great show. No it won't have the cool dresses from 1977 or the cleavage of 1985, but you will see two legends perform that can still deliver with the best of them. Even the hater we went with was impressed..she admitted that Ann is something special. What better endorsement is there than that?
  8. The Thing had some pretty gross scenes..great movie.
  9. Ann Wilson. I never tire of her voice.
  10. Def Leppard - Pyromania Still the only album I can think of that I liked every song from.
  11. Easy one, but the year might provide a challenge for some http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/WhalerFan/MyGoldStang.jpg
  12. Ford Taunus? geez that was a tough one.
  13. Wow..I had no idea there were this many people that like Heart as well as Rush. I have never gotten more flack from my friends than for liking this band, mostly because all they seem to remember is the 80's hairspray years. They forget that many moons ago this was actually a kick-ass hard rock band that produced 4 great albums, each with a wide variety of interesting songs. Like someone posted earlier, the original lineup was where the magic was, and after Roger Fisher was booted out it wasn't the same. The Wilson's had control of the band and differences appeared immediately on Bebe Le Strange. The title track was Ok, but stuff like "Break" sounded almost like the Go-Gos, and the horn section on "Even It Up" I always hated. Some songs off Private Audition and Passionworks were pretty good, such as "City's Burning" and "Sleep Alone", but choosing to do singles like "This Man is Mine" and "Tell it like it Is" was to me bizarre. As far as 1985 up goes, I actually liked the self titled album, although I say that with an * attached. I honestly feel that it was a very well written and produced album, just needing more guitar distortion and less keyboards (sort of like Hold Your Fire). Bad Animals and Brigade is more of the same and I don't like them at all. Jupiter's Darling was Ok, new one decent but all of it still lacks the punch of the 70's. I know it will never happen, but I wish they would stop with the "Heart-Lite" stuff (singing with Wynona Judd?? Geez!), and make a good hard rock album again - I am sure they have the talent. Speaking of talent, I think Ann is one of the best rock vocalists ever. If a good singer is an 8/10 she is an 11. Incredible talent, and was smokin hot for an entire decade before she finally lost her battle with genetics. Thanks for letting me ramble on here..usually if I bring up Heart I get told to "Shaddap!" lol.
