The Owl
I thought this might be an interesting thought experiment... I want you to think of bands who had 3 albums that would be classified as that band's best work, but those 3 albums have to be back to back to back... consecutive albums, released one after the other.. You cannot skip thorough the discography to pick out the best...they have to be a string of albums that you think represents the best by a particular band.. Here are some examples I thought of RUSH: Hemispheres- Moving Pictures PINK FLOYD: Dark Side of the Moon - Animals /or/ Wish You Were Here- The Wall PORCUPINE TREE: In Absentia - Fear of a Blank Planet YES: Fragile- Tales from Topagraphic Oceans GENESIS: Foxtrot- The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway I'll think of some more later There are alot of bands I can think of who have 3 really great albums, but they are not consecutive......for example DT's "SFAM", "SDoiT", and "Octavarium". Metallica's "Kill em All" "Master of Puppets", and "The Black Album".

rushgoober
QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Mar 9 2010, 01:50 PM) he Velvet Underground & Nico, White Light White Heat, The Velvet Underground I thought of doing this, but for me easily their best albums are The Velvet Underground & Nico, The Velevet Underground and Loaded. White Light/White Heat is in the middle there and is far weaker IMHO, or at least it's pretty hard going.
rushgoober
QUOTE (The Owl @ Mar 9 2010, 12:38 PM) I want you to think of bands who had 3 albums that would be classified as that band's best work, I was a bit thrown by this statement. Did you mean for us to put down what people in general think of as the best three of a band's work that are back to back to back, or what we subjectively thought fit that description? I did my list based on more what people think in general as opposed to my own opinion.
