  1. QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Sep 12 2012, 09:38 AM) I tell people all the time to show up late... wait for the opening band to finish. If the Rush concert starts at 7:30, Rush won't be on right away. Way too many people believe me. I tell them the truth ahead of time though. This was my thinking. Get there a little late because I hate waiting in the parking lot for Doors, then waiting in my seat for the band to come on in an hour after doors open its stupid and just designed to make you buy shitty overpriced food and beer.
  2. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Sep 12 2012, 08:58 AM) QUOTE (Xanadude69 @ Sep 10 2012, 06:37 PM) I'm basically making this thread to make myself feel better about being late to last nights Rush show. Long story short I mis read some information and thought that "Doors Open" was at 7:30, so I thought oh, that means the show will start at 8:30 or a little after. WRONG. Show started at around 8 I think. I ended up missing the first 6 songs and I was gutted because I looked at the setlist before the show and really wanted to see some of the songs that I ended up missing. ( I arrived at around 8pm and heard them playing their set as I walked from the parking lot unto the venue.) So Basically I payed the price for 1. Not reading information correctly and 2. trying to be slick and minimize waiting time between Doors Open and show time. I payed good money for tickets and ended up missing 1/4 of the show. Lesson learned. I am mad at myself and my on stupidity. Anyone else have stories? Rookie mistakes What ever time you see first on your ticket is the time the show starts. Some tickets will have the time the doors open printed on it. It will say something like "Doors 6:30" on the ticket somewhere. If it doesn't then whatever time is on there is the time the show starts. Most venues doors open an hour before the show time. Some might be 90 mins before but no more than that. I think the reason the door time isn't always printed on the ticket is because I don't think the venue knows themselves that far in advance when they'll open them. Obviously, if the concert sells well and you have a full house, they'll open them up earlier to make sure everyone gets to their seat on time. Like I said though, it's usually an hour before show time that the doors open. If your ticket says 7:30, weather you have a reserved seat or not, make sure you're at the venue sometime between 6:30-7:00. That way you'll be there in time and won't miss anything not really a rookie mistake I've been to plenty of concerts, it was just me being stupid.
  3. There are a couple of shirts that they were selling at the concert that are not on here. I am kind of disappointed, I didn't feel like waiting in line at the show so I figured I would buy it online and it isn't on the website.
  4. Where do you live? In the US there are very few concerts that have General Admission anymore unless its a smaller club venue.

  8. QUOTE (danielmclark @ May 10 2012, 04:12 PM) Haven't they said on occasion that they're just not fans of that early material? That it was from a period they consider amateurish or something? Yes, and I think this is the main reason for them not playing the early stuff. They just don't like it or like to play it. Plus Geddy's voice. I think it would be cool if they did a quick instrumental medly of some of the best early songs.
  9. I depends on my mood. I have so many songs that I usually just put my mp3 player on shuffle to get a little bit of everything. But the proper way to listen to music is to listen to the whole album.
  10. Its a good metal album, not the best Metallica album. The first 4 were obviously the best. That being said, Enter Sandman is one of the best Metallica songs out possibly one of the best metal songs ever.
  11. Bad Finger. Some could say Boston because they only put out a few albums.
  12. QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Jan 14 2012, 02:06 PM) Everyone goes on about the twin guitar sound of Lizzy, but it was always Phil & Brian for me. THIS! I have always thought Phil was a great bass player. He never just held down the bottom end, he always played melodic bass lines and the bass was always up front in the mix. Brian Downey is the most underrated drummer of all time. The man is a beast behind the kit. I think his best playing was on the 1st and 3rd albums though. I mean he was and is still great but he played best during the early, early days.
  13. I love old VH. I don't like when old rock bands try to make new albums. Sure Rush does an alright job at it. But I can't see the new VH album being anything special. I saw them on '07 with the overpriced tickets and the show wasn't that great. Sure I will give the new album a listen but the old stuff is what I enjoy most.
  14. No one has mentioned that some of these songs don't even have guitar solos! I counted 3 or 4 that don't have guitar solos in them. "Boys are Back in Town", "Stockholm Syndrome" , "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and one more I can't remember. This list was obviously not made by musicians.
  15. I always wanted to see the Thin Lizzy & Queen tour from '78
  16. I figured fledgehog would be all over this thread.
  17. QUOTE (nappy2112 @ Dec 9 2011, 03:52 PM) That awful keyboard rambling Keith Emerson does in "Lucky Man". I always hated this too. The song should of just ended but noooooo the cheezy keyboard has to ramble on into the fade out.
  18. Thin Lizzy box set I'm going to have to get that.
  19. The Who- The punk and the godfather The strange vocodor part in that song gets me every time. I hate it! On a side note vocoder/auto tune voice is all the rage these days and I still hate it!
  20. Everyone has pretty much said everything that I was going to say. Not the biggest Bon Jovi fan. Ritchie is a great underrated guitarist, etc. Just felt the need to put my 2 cents in
  21. If only they would come back to the US....
  22. As many have said already, one of the greatest albums of all time.
  23. I usually associate a "good voice" with vocal range and power. Sure I like Geddy's voice but guys like Freddy Mercury and Rob Halford have a way better voice.
  24. I'm surprised no one has said "Turbo" by Judas Priest
  25. My vote is pretty obvious. love the Lizzy albums with him. I will have to check out his solo stuff. any recommendations?
