Xanadu93
Finally listened to The Incident today, and... I don't know what to make of it. It's okay in spots, but it seemed waaaaaay too long. I'll deviate from my first-listen norm and give it an 8/10.

the masked drummer
I think that I listen to music for a different reason than most people I've met. I like music that is somewhat original, and as a musician and as a fan I feel alienated most of the time when I talk about bands I listen to, or bands I'd like to use as an influence for a new song to write... Always have a good question to ask your idols, because you never know, you just might meet them some day and look like a total dork when you can't talk in front ot them. Steve asked if I was the IRS. A very funny guy and an amazing guitarist. didn't mean to hijack this thread. just couldn't help it.

Xanadu93
I finally listened to Americana by The Offspring today. Hmm... it's not really earth-shattering (not that I expected it to be ), it has its "unique" mix of punk, pop and weird shit like the vibraphone, but the lyrics were dumb and the vocalist sounded somewhat similar to Chad Kroeger of Nickelback. I think I'll give it a 7.5 or an 8.
sullysue
Anyone who ever doubts Steve Hogarth's ability as a vocalist needs to listen to "House" from Marillion.com. He is without a doubt one of the most powerful prog vocalists ever. But... only when necessary. He's not over the top or showy. This song, "House," it will blow you away.
