I know there are probably 4 billion songs that could've been listed, but these were the ones that came off the top of my head. So of the ones I have listed, which of these bass lines best defines the song in which it belongs to.

Bass player here. From those choices, I went with "Roundabout."

Agreed, Chris Squire is f*ckin' awesome!! 1022.gif

Yeah, I should have maybe looked at the options a little more closely as I had to play Roundabout in my head long enough to remember the bass part and remember how ass-kicking it is, but I'm still happy with my decision. The bass part in Strange Brew moves the melody of the song along in such a dramatic way that it really stands out.

There are a lot of good choices up there, though. yes.gif

Tough choice, but I had to go with 'Roundabout'.

Under Pressure - simply done, by a seriously underrated bassist, (listen to Dragon Attack from The Game). Leads, and underpins the whole song.

John Deacon is seriously underrated! His basslines sound so simple, but they're always perfect for the song; tasteful. And sometimes he throws in an awesome fill that'll blow you away.

"Dragon Attack" is a great example of Deacon's excellence; the bassline in the core of the song. If you think "Another One Bites the Dust" (from the same album) features distinctive bass work, check out "Dragon Attack."

(I love that bassline; I play it all the time on my own bass.)

I choose Couldn't Stand The Weather only because it was the last song on the list I had heard..otherwise can't go wrong with Roundabout or Dazed, eventhough I LOVE JPJ's basslines in How Many More Times and In The Light

Gotta love Dragon Attack, easily one of my favorite queen songs!

On another topic, I wonder how many of the above riffs were performed with a Rickenbacher bass.

I know my choice of Superfreak was and am pretty sure that Roundabout was too.

"Roundabout" was definitely a Rick. Squire played his Rick exclusively at that stage, and besides, there's no mistaking the sound of the Rick on that track.
