Disco
I just saw the G3 Tokyo DVD. Oh Boy and oh Wow!!! That Petrucci!!! That must be the best example of someone playing scales I have ever seen!!! He rawks at that!!! I am sorry DT fans, I honestly didn't know who he played for when I watched it so I was listening without prejudice, but I thought he was playing in some type of tribute to the town he was in: noodle, noodle, and then more noodle. Fair play to all of you that can hear the soul in it, for me it was like, as I say, watching someone play scales. Disco

Disco
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That's a sensational clip! Here's the link to the 'song' I saw on the DVD I play scales If you watch, just be aware it does go on, and on. But the director understands you might get bored of watching Mr P playing scales so he sometimes cut to the bass player playing scales. Great! Or am I just misunderstanding, is he in fact just checking that guitar is in tune before Steve Via comes out and plays it? If so, what a lovely lad he is. Disco
Wow [really] have you seen where they are playing in Linz (where I lived last year)?! Here's a link to the place, scroll down the page for the English translation: Posthof It's the Grosse Saal (Big Hall) of the Posthof, a venue all of 1,200 standing or 630 sitting! I think this is standing as the tickets are 'Standing for place' but they also come with a row number so I'm a bit confused. Now, there are flights from my local airport direct to Linz, and they can be cost less than $1 plus tax. I know people there so it would be free accomodation. Hmmm? It's kind of tempting. Go on the Friday or Saturday, have a hike in the mountians and then see DT. Actually TangDog I thought of you the other day when I saw this clip of Faithless Faithless - God is a DJ It's a different aesthetic of course, but it really reminded me of the uplifting free flowing loose music of the Ozrics. If you want to ignore the talking bit at the beginning the music with the instruments begin at 50 seconds. I actually enjoyed the vocals in that I liked the content of what he said. Yeah, they are kinda like the Ozrics from a tripping techno perspective, but alot more more user friendly I would say and a bit more pop. I really enjoy the ripping guitar part of Ozrics. There is a newer group called Dream Machine and there are several old Ozrics members in it including Jumping John the old OT flute player.

Terminus Est
QUOTE (Disco @ Mar 13 2007, 05:35 AM) People who like DT tend not to be able to dance. People who like DT do go to parties, but are rarely remembered as having been there by anyone else who attended. I utterly despise both dancing and parties, and listen to Dream Theater, so maybe you're right. Seriously, people dancing look utterly ridiculous to me. Anyway, I got into Rush through Dream Theater, so I hold a lot of respect for both bands. Although I daresay I enjoy Dream Theater a bit more. You know, some people LIKE over-the-top technicality. The Main Monkey Business and La Villa Strangiato are my favorite Rush songs and I loved the wild 30-minute jam from Liquid Tension Experiment. Also, people who say that DT are never into it should watch Mike drumming on Score. The way he strikes the cymbals at the beginning of Another Won is downright violent.
