Seriously, people dancing look utterly ridiculous to me.
Anyway, I got into Rush through Dream Theater, so I hold a lot of respect for both bands. Although I daresay I enjoy Dream Theater a bit more. You know, some people LIKE over-the-top technicality. The Main Monkey Business and La Villa Strangiato are my favorite Rush songs and I loved the wild 30-minute jam from Liquid Tension Experiment.
Also, people who say that DT are never into it should watch Mike drumming on Score. The way he strikes the cymbals at the beginning of Another Won is downright violent.
