  1. QUOTE (The Rocinante @ Apr 21 2007, 07:01 PM) QUOTE (Hector Gilbert @ Apr 21 2007, 07:04 AM) QUOTE (ReRushed @ Apr 12 2007, 06:26 PM) QUOTE (The Rocinante @ Apr 11 2007, 12:49 AM) Velvet Underground-Squeeze (on vinyl) It's Doug Yule's masterpiece! It's not really that bad. Thinking of it as Doug Yule's solo album, it's kind of boring at worst - like much of Loaded, and Lou Reed's self-titled release. How could you compare Squeeze to Loaded? The only song that was halfway decent was Little Jack Loaded's a bit of a transition from the self-titled Velvet Underground album (which is a favourite of mine, definitely check that out if you haven't already) to Squeeze in style, though the songs are written by Reed instead of Yule - half of the tunes are sung by Yule, however. A few of the Reed-sung tunes on the album have become classics in their own right, especially "Sweet Jane", and the album at least sounds a lot better than Squeeze. I'm not too crazy about it, but if you were enough of a Velvet Underground completist to get Squeeze you may as well hear Loaded.

  3. Images and Words is an amazing album. The other albums I've heard, starting with Awake, have had their moments but largely haven't excited me nearly as much.
