What pissed you off today? v.2

I ordered an Apple Pencil off of this site called dealsCube because I didn't want to pay the ridiculous Apple tax by going retail (first world problem brought on entirely by myself, I know), and it hasn't shipped yet. So I contacted the seller, who responded by telling me I won't get the darn thing until April 1-17. I placed the order on March 17! How long does it take to process something that weighs less than an ounce? It's only coming from Florida—I've had items shipped to me from China in four days. I am not pleased. Oh, and by the way, it still wound up costing me $69. :boo hiss:

Nah, it's a condition that used to be known as Manic Depressive...

Manichttp://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Banana%20World/Psychedelic%20banana_1.gif Depressivehttp://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Banana%20World/sad%20banana%20gif.gif

Oh ok

I think I might have that.

They are a good band musically but I always feel depressed when I listen to the Manic Street Preachers

What pissed me off today was that I parked in parent and child space as I had my 4 year old neice in the back. This idiot came up to me and started to swear and threaten me saying "You asshole you think you can park anywhere you like!!" I made my case and said the car park was empty and he could get a space closer to the door. He said no "I want this one!" I was upset that Jessica had to hear this so I moved, He went in to the space and his kid was about 7 or 8 without a child seat!!

To make things worse there were two elderly woman watching and after I pulled out I said "Can you believe the threatening abuse he gave me?"

I was just flabbergasted by the reply, one of them said "You should not be in that space as your child is not a toddler.

"I hate the f***ing system just as much as you Briggs, but until I find something better I have just got to live with it. Pretty soon you are going to start executing people for Jaywalking!!!" - Lt Harry Callahan

It was all about my car, if I had been driving a little hatchback then nothing would have been said.

My turntable seem to be broken! fists%20crying.gif

I changed the stylus (needle) on it for the first time. And now when Im playing a vinyl record, I only get music from one speaker. When I changed back to the old stylus (once again...needle), there was no different.

But when I play CD, there is sound from both speakers!

Help me!! Im losing my mind!!! :(

The most annoying thing is, that my dad cant come and help me until next weekend! So I am stuck listening to CDs the whole week! And I bought lots of new vinyl records yesterday, that had been on my wish list for a long time, and I was going to listen to them this week (one tonight)! fists%20crying.gif

And I cant fix it on my own, because Im useless with these kind of stuff.... I can only do the most simple stuff! (Yes, I know, I should learn more about fixing with these kind of stuff... but as long as it works, I am just enjoying the music...)

Sounds like a very simple problem Zumbi. I did electronics at college and would never profess to be an "expert"

The secret with any electronic problem is to try to find the source. Obviously there is nothing wrong with your CD player or amplifier because they work together, and there is no way it can be a stylus problem.

What I think in my humble opinion is that it is a problem with one of your stereo outputs from your T/T or one of the leads you may be using.

Try swapping over the leads from the TT to the amp and if the sound comes out of the other speaker then it is just a dodgy cable. If the sound still comes out of the same side then it is a bad connection from the output side of your T/T, but still easily fixed, it wont be expensive, might even just be able to fix it by opening the system and using some Iso propyl alcohol or other appropriate cleaning fluid.

Don't worry, from what I have told you then it is an easy fix. With older HI-Fi the conections get a bit dry and dusty all the time.

Hope this helps dude

I think the :codger: Technics receiver is finally dying on me :( . Had it for decades and has provided much pleasure through out the years.

Sucks. My Onkyo circa 78' is still going and going...

It has that burning smell. Which leads me to believe it is on it's last leg. I will check things out tomorrow.

Glad to hear this! I just bought an Onkyo receiver and CD player last week as new parts in my sound system. Very pissed off, though, because the speakers that I ordered at the same time were supposed to come last Friday and are lost somewhere. Amazon won't do anything (except give me extra months on Prime, that is worth a little I guess) until tomorrow. Waiting and waiting . . . . .

Hope they show up soon. That said, I would never buy a stereo online. I need to see it and listen to it in person. :guitar:

What do you mean by the receiver? The radio?

Erm sorry but that is one beyond my limited knowledge dude sadly.

Such a shame because Hi Fi in the 70's and early 80's was just so much better quality than the crap churned out now (apart from MEGA expensive bespoke stuff)

You could try to find an old fashioned Hi Fi guy who will give you a free estimate, it may be something simple or the unit may have just died a natural death.

Also you may wish to consider that everything is pretty much Digital now, so if the radio stations in your area have switched all of the analog transmission off then you wont get a signal.

You might want to try an A/D converter, you know those cheap boxes that let you use an old analog TV with the new digital signal? Might be worth a try?

Anyway let me know how you get on dude

Best Regards

Smitty :) :) :)

It may just be that, fingers crossed, because Technics in the 70's and 80's were quality kit and built to last.

Well the Japanese are well known for their reliability, I still have an Aiwa tape deck from the late 70's. Probably needs a service and the heads demagnetised and a good clean but the motors are still going strong

I run it through my CD player but it also has radio as well which I never use. Its from the early eighties. It's been a die hard for years. I will probably take your advice and have some one look at before I buy another one. I would love to have a Marantz from the seventies. But haven't found one in my price range. I won't buy any newer stuff. I prefer the old school systems. :codger:

If it is an Amplifier radio combination that is going hot and giving a burning smell then it probably will be the fan. Don't run it until you see a Hi Fi specialist.

He will probably tell you that it is "beyond economic repair" but just get a rundown of the parts needed, they can be picked up cheaply on the web these days, but the cost of repair is another matter sadly. It depends how much you love something. I have paid way over the odds to get some classic stuff restored but it is the sentimental value and how it makes you feel at the end of the day that you can never put a price on

I can give you some examples if you wish.

Take care dude

Yeah,

It probably isn't worth the cost of fixing but will have it looked at anyway. It's not an amp, just a receiver. There are a few items for sale locally but like I said, I am not willing to dish out the cash at this time. A nice vintage Sansui set up would be nice though. :D

I'm with you but strangely it is actually the set up that my son has. He has good ears and does music for a living so I called him to ask him about some different brands etc. We realized that I was looking at the exact same stuff he has had for awhile and I love the way it sounds. Saved me a trip to Best Buy which I was glad about at the time but now   stuck in delivery hell.

A receiver usually is a tuner, preamp, and amplifier in one package.

I agree about 70s and 80s' stereo equipment. I still haven't ever heard anything that sounded better to me than my 1979 Sansui G-9000 receiver. I bought it new and still use it daily. Paired with a good set of speakers, it is so musical and makes you feel like you're there. I will say that the receiver does benefit from newer speaker technology. Dates from my other components include 1973, 1975, 1982, 1983, 1989, 2014, 2015 & 2016. It all just blends so good. I have the system in my office and sometimes I have to stop working and just sit and listen because it sounds so good.

If I were looking for a music stereo system, I would go with "vintage" equipment and find a good repair guy to fix it when it needs it. I have a very good friend who makes a very good living repairing and restoring vintage radio and stereo equipment. He is a miracle worker.

Nice,

Nothing beats the old Sansui products.
