madra sneachta Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 So the question is, was I inspired by Physics' MFH poll, or did I just shamelessly steal his idea?. I find this a much harder one, but my vote goes to At The End.
ByWyzD Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 I just listened to my Victor CD the other day but gonna have to again to pick a favorite.
tangy Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 gotta go with I am the Spirit. Close second is Shut Up Shuttin' Up
ES-335 Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 Shut up shutting up ... from first listen LOL!!! Victor is a cool song too. I really wasn't too impressed with this album though, I very rarely listen to it . MFH, however, is one of my favs.
sfuentes Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 I'd have to say Don't Care. It's the only one that stands out for me, the rest are pretty much garbage.
KenJennings Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Aside from Mr. X which is an excellent song, the album is dissapointing.
defrushfan01 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Start today has a great feel, and the vocals being so harsh, just really put me into a mind set like no other album can do. Great song, great vocals.
Indica Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 (edited) Sending Out A Warning for me. I also am not a big fan of this CD/Band. Also MFH is one of my fave non Rush CD's. Edited November 25, 2005 by Indica
kooma Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Sending out a warning, very difficult this one!
Tick Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 im not into victor, i love geddys solo album though.
Drumnut Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 On today's date: January 9, 1996 Alex Lifeson's solo album, 'Victor' was released.
Cygnalschick Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 It seems Promise is the favorite I've always loved that song!
GeddyRulz Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 (edited) I went with the single, "Promise." I recall that song being the most Rush-like. Not a fan of this album at all. I bought it, gave it two listens, then sold it to a used CD store. (Imagine!) I kinda wish I still had it, just to keep my collection complete, and maybe give it a third chance. The lyrics just seemed too sexist to me - even rude - but I learned later that it was supposed to illustrate the "dark side of love," and didn't reflect Alex's true feelings. Geddy's MFH is pretty cool, though. Edited May 16, 2006 by GeddyRulz

Geddy's MFH is pretty cool, though. I put a vote in for Mr. X, but it really is a tie for me btwn that and At the End. I had a hard time with this album, too, for a long time. Had listened to it once, and then kinda put it away. But a friend of mine had taped a promo interview Alex had done for Q107 and sent it to me. It was a great interview, I thought, and helped me figure out what Alex was getting at. So I listened to it a lot and the album really grew on me. It also helped that they played At the End in the pre-show music selections before the concerts. Maybe there was something about hearing the song in an entirely different setting made me gravitate toward it more...I dunno. It just made me perk my ears up and I really enjoyed it. I like the album b/c it ISN'T very Rush like - at least not to my ears. I WANT to hear them do other things and stretch their musical muscles a little more. I definitely love the album, now.

treeduck Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 I think Victor, I love that WH Auden poem, it's spooky good...
