Mystic Slipperman
Crowded House. Most people just know them for one song (Don't Dream It's Over). IMO they've made some of the most brilliant pop/rock music in the past 30 years. Woodface, Together Alone... masterpieces.
Rutlefan
Great call on Crowded House! Neil Finn is an epic songwriter. They get played a lot at Bed Bath & Beyond but the shoppers don't know what they're hearing. Those guys are amazing.

Tony R
Coshish - Hindi Prog. Yes they are Indian you have to go beyond that. They're influenced by bands like PT and Opeth and I have high hopes for them beyond being a novelty.
Chicken hawk
I love this band...they remind me a bit like the CARS. The Strokes. ( or U2 ) Edited January 9, 2017 by Chicken hawk
Tony R
Kevin Gilbert created a mega album in "The Shaming Of The True" but died before it was released in 2000. A Prog-light Concept album it is an outstanding work. It tells of his disenchantment with the music business with the back story that he wrote most of what would become The Tuesday Night Music Club by Sheryl Crow only to get frozen out by her when their relationship ended. A lot of the tracks on the album are ascerbic to say the least but its insight into the music business is cuttingly on point. Mosher
Crowded House. Most people just know them for one song (Don't Dream It's Over). IMO they've made some of the most brilliant pop/rock music in the past 30 years. Woodface, Together Alone... masterpieces. Finn is an excellent song writer, but I'm a bigger fan of what his older brother and Judd did with early Split Enz. Woodface of course was with his brother wasn't it? Neil Finn is a fantastic writer of pop music.
Rutlefan
Speaking of Aussies (ok, the Finns are New Zealanders, but same thing to me ;) ), Underground Lovers are definitely an overlooked band over here in the States. From their most recent, Holiday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1shnAtJak4 And going back to their heyday in the '90s: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZzMeqck27Q&list=PLovEc_FJVGo2VE9ruT5BL_UdxazReigQY&index=16 Edited January 9, 2017 by Rutlefan
Rutlefan
And my favorite Aussie band of all, The Church. Criminally overlooked since Starfish, yet they've been making fantastic music the past couple decades. From their most recent; that guitar at 2:02 and 3:38 should be patented as proprietary Church; recognizable going back to the early '80s: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eF_c0DhPunA&list=PLtfLjPSVqdFxgWIOwVFS0hbod0vpMEJac&index=11 From '05's Back with Two Beasts. An oddball but cool track; kind of takes you on a "trip" though I haven't taken full advantage of the travel package: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrkwhQzKz6s Edited January 9, 2017 by Rutlefan
custom55
Kyuss ( great Stoner Rock ) QOTSA became more main stream / successful but Kyuss planted the seed. Other John Garcia bands such as Unida , Slo Burn, Hermano were great too. Kyuss Unida
Rutlefan
I think The Kinks are underrated. I'm inclined to their '60s stuff. A couple from Face to Face:

Mosher
The Cranberries come to my mind instantly. I like them so much, my wife hates her voice, though. As a big Cranberries fan I almost named them, good call.
