Ancient Ways Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 ParanoidMaster of realityVol. 4SBSBlack sabbathSabotageNever say dieTechnical ecstasy First 4 I listed are absolute classics and you could argue that any of them are the best. 1
Union 5-3992 Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 I'm not even going to try. It's way too difficult for me because it changes every day. Some days Master of Reality is my favorite, other days Sabotage is. Or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Or Paranoid. Or Vol.4. See what I mean?!? 3

Vol. 4 (But my undisputed favorite Sabbath song is Under the Sun)6. Black Sabbath7. Never Say Die8. Technical Ecstasy 2
treeduck Posted October 22, 2016 Author Posted October 22, 2016 Master of Reality is very popular I notice, that's interesting. It seems to be very popular with modern stoner/doom fans. 1
J2112YYZ Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Master Of RealitySabbath Bloody Sabbath (title track is probably my favorite metal song)ParanoidVol 4Black SabbathSabotageNever Say DieTechnical Ecstasy Their first six albums are untouchable classics. One of the best consecutive album streaks of all time. Big drop off on the last two. There's good songs on them but you could hear that the band was running out of gas and needed a change. It's amazing what the band did during this run though. 2
treeduck Posted October 22, 2016 Author Posted October 22, 2016 Master of Reality a top choice again eh? I have it 6th in my list and it's never been better than 4th or 5th at any time for me.
treeduck Posted October 22, 2016 Author Posted October 22, 2016 1. Paranoid2. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath3. Vol 44. Black Sabbath5. Sabotage6. Master of Reality7. Never Say Die8. Technical Ecstasy 2
J2112YYZ Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 With me the first six are so close to each other. I could rearrange those albums in any order and it wouldn't bother one bit which one came out on top. As for MOR being the top choice, I think a lot of it has to do with the crushing metal brilliance of Iommi's riffs on the album. Such groundbreaking and genre defining work by him. 3

Into the void, my favorite riff , fits this post I would say Master of realityBlack sabbath Then a toss up... I will add it was really a treat to see hand of doom live Edited October 22, 2016 by djflex 1

LakesideShark Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 For now, I'd say Vol. 4 is my number one, but I haven't listened to all of them in some time. I just got recently acquired them all on CD, so I'll re-listen to them and then I shall return. 2
YYZumbi Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Ouch, this is very hard! Black Sabbath is one of my favorite bands (Ozzy!). But I guess I can try, but do not take my list to serious: Black SabbathMaster Of RealitySabotageSabbath Bloody SabbathParanoidVol. 413 (why does no one count this album? Its a Ozzy-Sabbath album, and its awesome!)Never Say Die (I rarely listen to this album, Black Sabbath is dieing here)Technical Ecstasy (I never listen to this album, Black Sabbath is dead here, until they return with 13) 2

And a lot of time had passed by the time it was released, 35 years is a huge gap.
thirteen Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 1) Sabbath bloody Sabbath. 2)Volume 4. 3) Sabotage. 4) Paranoid 5) Master of reality 6) Black Sabbath. Not gonna rank the two abominations of Technical Ecstasy and Never say die. 1
ozzy85 Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 What... are you trying to bait me into responding into something? Dude... Sabotage has been my long standing crown for this. Conceptual and heavy. Yes can go eat turds in 1975. The total on tour/paranoia freakout album. First album has its charms, though. Raw, bluesy jams. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is like the worlds heaviest ELO album. No insult there. 2

Technical Ecstasy (beats NSD thanks to the brilliant "You Won't Change Me")8. Never Say Die! If the title of the thread had been changed ever so slightly, my 1. and 2. would have been Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules respectively Edited October 22, 2016 by Chronos
