  1. I got the audio in November and Hubby bought me the book for Christmas. Am up to the chapter where he just got married, now I can go back and look at the pictures. Enjoying Geddy's narration, taking my time to savor it.

  2. I just got it too. I blew through the first three chapters just last night. It's a really difficult book to put down.

  3. Did you ever feel like you listened to far too many new releases this year? I'm all for discovering new music, but a list like this doesn't allow time to listen to the albums and really get to know them.

  4. Just got the Geddy Lee book for Christmas! Wondered if anyone else got it for Christmas? To be honest I would never have bought it myself (after being an astromancing uber-fan for 40+ years I know a lot of the lore and also I'm afraid to know everything because it might ruin the mystery a bit) but it was a nice thought and am about 40 pages in. Cheers!

  8. There's plenty of good music released every year. You just gotta do a bit more digging than in prior years.

  12. Yeah I feel like if I get half a dozen new releases from bands I know and maybe discover a new band for my rotation that's a really good year. I simply wouldn't have the time or energy to devote that level of attention to much more, and I've got a desk job for a living.

  14. Taylor Swift- The Eras Tour Okay, so I watched this. Still, close enough to an album! Avenged Sevenfold- Avenged Sevenfold Call me crazy, but I had moments today thinking Nightwish took some elements, surely, and infused them into Imaginaerum. A brilliant, bonkers, super catchy album. The Gaslight Anthem- History Books About as exciting as daytime TV, and about as adventurous as a potato. I love it So much

  15. Yesterday: REO Speedwagon - Hi InFidelity Green Day - Nimrod Muse - Drones No albums yet today, but at some point I’ll get there. Also, to anyone who cares… I know I’ve been a lot less active on here lately. I got into and out of my first relationship over the last three months. Spending time on much else has been really difficult. But I am still alive and still listening to music all the time and I still care about my friends here.

  17. In no order (except for number 1 that is) 1. Avenged Sevenfold-Life is but a dream 2. In Flames-Foregone 3. Haken-Fauna 4. Periphery-Djent is Not A Genre 5. Steven Wilson-The Harmony Codex 6. Peter Gabriel-I/O 7. Steve Lukathar-Bridges 8. Olivia Rodigo-GUTS 9. Taylor Swift- 1989 TV That's about as much as i can get. with my neice and nephew i don't consume THAT much new stuff anymore but the list here are some GREAT albums. A7X remains my fav with albums from In Flames and Haken and Steven wilson being nice surprises. the Swift MIGHT be a cheat but it's far and away her best re-record. It also blows me away that this year gave us that weird time where Take me back to Edan was a thing as it seems now Sleep Token has fizzled a great deal. All and all what i likd this year i loved. and i had to edit to talk about A7X some more . they're album blows me away. Zappa-esque in it's pure abadonment of fitting inside a pretty box. what a risk and they didn't seem to care. "here it is. if you like it great. if not that's a you problem." Segue's journey with it made my year. KNEW he'd hate at first., after a decade i know his reactions to things a bit, lol. but he came around. Mick

  18. Okay, I've had a weird year. Barely listened to new albums, but I have some: 1. The Gaslight Anthem- History Books This feels like something many will write off as bleh, but the album felt like a return home to a style of music I am increasingly fond of again. Bruce Springsteen cameos on the title track, but the album as a whole is beautifully understated and feels like a classic to my ears. 2. Taylor Swift- 1989 (Taylor's Version) When this album came out, I was confused as to why she released the vault tracks on the same disc as the re-recording. Then I played it a few times before it clicked: 1989 TV works, bonus material and new material all, as one brilliant pop album. The new recordings blow the original out of the water, the bonus material is sublime, and oddly, the way the album glows start to finish is now so smooth the listening experience feels shorter. I was lukewarm to the original 1989, I now think this is the most spectacular and immaculate pop album of the century to date. 3. Avenged Sevenfold- ...Life Is But A Dream Oh I hated this, but could I stop listening to it? No, I was compelled. Now I think it's a work of genius. Few bands this big take risks THIS left of the field. Masterpiece. 4. Taylor Swift- Speak Now (Taylor's Version) Mick and I have different opinions. For me, this album is wonderful in both its iterations. What makes thus special for me is the Vault tracks. I love each and every one. Foo Fighters- But Here We Are I didn't know I needed this til I heard it. Beautiful.

  25. Finished the last two right before Christmas. Had no idea Melissa had played with Smashing Pumpkins. Novoselic is a huge guy, he lives an eccentric life in the country. Hope there will be more episodes.

  26. Yes, guess his temper tantrum woke some guys up. It's like we don't know which team is going to show up from night to night, that meltdown against the Coyotes was awful so I don't blame Georgie for blowing up. We got Girard back so that makes me hopeful that Lehkonen will be back soon as well. He's a great play maker, Avs really need him right now.

  27. I listened to about 56 newly released albums last year (most of them only once or twice though) and this is how I ranked them. Paramore - This Is Why Avenged Sevenfold - Life Is But A Dream... 100 Gecs - 10000 Gecs Good Game - Get Good Kesha - Gag Order Noname - Sundial Foo Fighters - But Here We Are Fall Out Boy - So Much (For) Stardust MisterWives - Nosebleeds Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS White Reaper - Asking For A Ride Jessie Ware - That! Feels Good! Squid - O Monolith Matana Roberts - Coin Coin Chapter 5: In The Garden… Grouplove - I Want It All Right Now The Dirty Nil - Free Reign To Passions boygenius - The Record Shame - Food For Worms Genesis Owusu - Struggler Explosions In The Sky - End Gabrielle Aplin - Phosphorescent Olivia Jean - Raving Ghost Winery Dogs - III Swans - The Beggar Margot Price - Strays L’Rain - I Killed Your Dog Jockstrap - I<3QTINVU Post Malone - Austin Maneskin - RUSH! Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers - I Love You Within Temptation - Bleed Out André 3000 - New Blue Sun Black Pumas - Chronicles Of A Diamond Apashe - Antagonist Thomas Bangalter - Mythologies Open Mic Eagle - Another Triumph Of Ghetto Engineering Mitski - The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We Blur - The Ballad Of Darren Soen - Memorial Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds Kim Petras - Problematique Tanukichan - GIZMO Kaytraminé - Kaytraminé Skrillex - Quest For Fire Nothing But Thieves - Dead Club City Janelle Monae - The Age Of Pleasure Portrayal Of Guilt - Devil Music Veil Of Maya - Mother Soft On Crime - New Suite Metallica - 72 Seasons Queens Of The Stone Age - In Times New Roman Blink-182 - One More Time… Miley Cyrus - Endless Summer Vacation Grupo Frontera - El Comienzo Taking Back Sunday - 152 Skrillex - Don't Get Too Close I think the last new one I tried before the end of the year was I/O by Peter Gabriel, which I remember liking but not thoroughly loving, and I may have been pulled away from my listening session slightly before the end by work. I’d say it would slot in somewhere around André 3000 and Within Temptation. EDIT: I did also listen to PetroDragonic Apocalypse by King Gizzard many months after it came out, but I forgot to rank it. I think it would go somewhere around Squid and Jessie Ware. It was really good. EDIT 2: Ope, and I listened to Stone by Baroness, which I really enjoyed. That would probably fall in around Shame and Genesis Owusu
