I'm on vacation down in Disney; ONLY to help my sister, who's a single mom of a 5 & 1 year old. I cannot say a word, or express myself; she questions nearly every move, gesture, question i may have. She doesn't stop. I'M EXHAUSTED. I love her & her children VERY DEARLY. There's no way she could've driven from New Orleans, and done Disney Springs, Jurassic Park, Universal, Sea World, Magic, Animal and back at Magic tonight. We leave Saturday. GIVE ME STRENGTH. I'm trying.5 points

I just stumbled upon this Metallica/Men At Work mash-up (with a little bit of Judas Priest thrown in for good measure!) I thought you good folks might enjoy it!4 points

Rush- Vapor Trails (original) Rush- Hold Your Fire I really don't like the remix of VT. Sorry/not sorry. It's as flawed as the original and its flaws are less appealing to me. The original has a messy production but the searing, white heat of the production really drives the emotionality of the songs home for me. Could be improved, but so far it hasn't. Hold Your Fire remains a stunning album, but I definitely feel these days that I favour (as I think I always did, honestly) Grace Under Pressure from this era.3 points

DT has amazing ability to loose me completely but always bring me back in the end. so they're not a band i worry about at all. Mick2 points

Oh, man -- thanks; I really needed these videos today! Good stuff. People can be so creative. (and, yes, some have way too much time on their hands!)2 points

In 2013, my peak year as a Paramore fan, I said it was my AOTY. As time has gone on, it's actually Alter Bridge's Fortress. I thought Paramore really created a defining pop album that year. I think it's timeless. May have to replay it! Reminds me in many ways of Jimmy's Invented. I also loved the non-album singles. Monster being my favourite. For a brief time I thought they were great. Never really got the hype for their first two albums though.2 points

Saw Yes last night in small local PAC theater. I'd never seen them before. They did Close to the Edge and some other stuff. Now, I realize this is the current iteration, so of course it's not the same. But it was fun, and I honestly didn't realize how proggy they are! I'm mostly just familiar with their more well-known hits. Anyway, it was fun to see Geoff Downes and Steve Howe. And I always love being in a crowd that is so appreciative and into it, and this crowd was totally into it. I was saying to my friend "And I thought Rush fans were nerdy, lol" and the guy in front of us came back to his seat at that very moment and said to his friends "it's just like a Rush concert, long line at the men's room and no line at the ladies room!"2 points

Yay!! Brand New Eyes is pretty much my favorite at this point. I think it’s where they perfected their particular style of emo/pop punk. The self titled is a really interesting beast. A real grab bag of styles with very bright neon sounds and an overall more commercial approach despite being a much longer album with somewhat longer songs on average.2 points

Paramore- Brand New Eyes Paramore- Paramore I've never been a die hard fan of this band, but these are two particularly fantastic albums. I always though of them as a blend of Jimmy Eat World and No Doubt.2 points

Hand Over Fist by Rush, thanks to this forum. I really need to stay out of those Roll The Bones this or that threads2 points

In terms of sounding like Jimmy Eat World type stuff, yeah they’ve moved on from their emo phase. But Haley will be the first to argue that what they do is still emo, just in a different way. I do think they’ve really hit a unique sound on the last album, very 80s as you said, but still very them. Have you heard their new single This Is Why? It backs off of the 80s synth influences and seems to be going in a slightly post punk direction? I can’t quite put my finger on it but it’s a catchy little nugget of alternative.2 points

Re-reading Brave New World, which my son is reading for the first time. These days it reads more like historical fiction than a sci-fi cautionary tale2 points

I got an email from a guy in Nigeria this morning. He wants to share his wealth. All I need to do is send him my contact information, and he will arrange to send me a box of cash post-haste. Who's address should I send him?1 point

ESPN had an interesting game last night, Central Michigan vs Western Michigan. Which started in a snowstorm, with most of the field covered in white. Stayed that way throughout, except for alternating zones 10 yards wide that had been mostly, but not entirely, cleared off. Football as it should be. Beautiful!1 point
