  1. I had such a nice week, and I was thinking I should share my story with you guys! First, I went to Sweden Rock Festival together with my parents. And we had a great time, saw lots of great bands (most of them at first row). The bands we saw was: Black Ingvars (a swedish comedy band) Doro Pesch´s Warlock Alter Bridge Aerosmith Wishbone Ash Mustasch Gotthard Little Stevens & The Disciples Of Soul Scorpions. I got a guitar pick from the Alter Bridge band and I got TWO drum sticks from when I saw Scorpions. So that was really cool! And then on my way home I went by a store that was selling used record players. So I got my self a new turntable, a Pioneer PL 120. I am right now sitting and listening to it, and it sounds great! So I am sooooo happy right now! :) http://i.imgur.com/ocBGV9k.jpg

  3. Ted Nugent by a long way. If he could just keep his mouth shut about his extreme political ideas, I'd like him more.

  4. Well this was at a festival. And you can buy almost any kind of snacks or food you want. Pizza, Fish N Chips, Pasta, Waffles, and so much more. (and for those that drink, it is ofcourse wine and beer as well). And yes, Wishbone Ash was very good! I had never heard their music before (only one song, Warrior), but I really enjoyed them. Good guitar players!

  5. Would've died as a band if just kept doing what already done, every Rush album shows a marked level of progression really some more radical than others, Just a handful of years from Hemispheres to GUP pretty remarkable

  7. All except for one, I do too. Really bizarrely...my loathing for Face Up, Neurotica and YBYL has dropped...I can tolerate all three when I play the album!

  13. Update: I got a new turntable a few days (but played it first time today, since I have been away at a festival and rocked out to live music instead!) The Dual player I was thinking of getting was gone before I could get to the store, so I got my self a Pioneer PL 120 instead. I replaced all the cables on it, and replaced the pickup as well. And put on new feet beneath it. Now it is like new. I have been playing it all day, and it just sounds great! Im very happy with it! http://i.imgur.com/ocBGV9k.jpg

  14. I love the whole damn film. Glamorous escapism. Go watch a documentary lol Screw that. i payed money to see what the title said, lol. And granted i got that. butit's like when your trying to do something cool and you got a lame ass relative or little bro poking their ass into it. that was this quarter baked love story. that's right........it wasn't even HALF BAKED. I CAN'T EVEN GIVE IT THAT!!!!!! Forgive me i also watched loads of lewis Black yesterday. and he's influencing my posts right now, lol point being it SUCCCKS!!!!!!! Miick It's better than any Sondheim soundtrack. And less cheesy. Hehehehehehehehehehehe Shots fired. Also it was the first time I ever saw breasts and for that its gets an amen! Plus to this day Kate Winslet in this movie in general is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. And it's such a cute romance. And I love the ending. You always have to hate what's popular WHAT IS THE DEAL?!?! Love ya buddy. (Or should I say Bek? LMAO!) i LOVE Dark side of the moon and Born to run and thoese are a tiny bit popular but Titanic fairly suck. a BIG set of monkey balls. Mick You made me very hungry. i just had a speghetti and Meatballs.....that where the balls thing came in, lol yay we haven't crashed a thread in so long. Mick IT HAS BEEN TOO LONG!! Lets discuss something random: I think movie Ginny was perfect for movie Neville. I think The bathroom walls are perfect for movie Ginny god she was a stupid head in the movies, lol Mick It takes a real effort to read the books and imagine her interesting. Which sucks as she's a delight on page! she's so fiesty in book form. she made me laugh out loud when i was reading the series Mick

  15. I thought this was for fun, not to be a show off. Something For Nothing has plenty of difficult fills, why is any of this even a problem? It's ridiculous

  16. Well, there's nothing to stop you from learning them anyway...and it still sounds like a really cool experience.

  17. Is Rush my fave band? Hell yes. That being said, I have not listened to them a great deal in the last year. I have been listening to a lot of classical music in the last year. Its just appealed to me. But Rush is way ahead of everything else. Way, way behind Rush would be a tightly packed bunch of groups that I like including (in no particular order) 1. Nightwish 2. The Who 3. Maiden 4. Priest 5. Journey 6. Leppard (basically for High n Dry & Pyromania) 7. Savatage (basically for Streets & Hall of the Mountain King) 8. Triumph

  19. Someone explain to me how pointing out Black people say stupid shit love me "ax" instead of "ask" Is racism? Let me tell you, it's NOT. So say whatever ever you want and call me stupid but saying I'm stupid for pointing something that's just the truth is stupid. It's not racist, not even a little bit. If anyone says it is you need to tell me why and have it actually make sense?

  22. I know much of this banter is in good fun, and there's no denying that there are some who don't have the best grasp on the language .. If it really means something - and it sure seems like it for some here, considering the emotion - instead of racking up 30,000, 40,000 + posts on the internet, be the example you think you are: http://www.bbbs.org/

  30. I don't know if this one has spread across the pond, or if it's just a British thing, but the one I CAN'T STAND (and hear all the time) is "innit"... and to make it worse, it's generally not even used as a contraction of "isn't it" ...it's just it's own thing. If you don't have this one over there, consider yourselves fortunate. Here's an explanation I found: It drives me up the wall, innit. (doesn't it?)

  32. Yeah, you really can't go wrong with anything from 68-73. Astral Weeks Moondance St Dominic's Preview Tupelo Honey Hard Nose The Highway The live album from that era is amazing too - "It's Too Late To Stop Now".

  33. Literally everything from his debut (1967) up through Hard Nose the Highway ('73, and a personal favorite of mine) is can't-miss territory. I especially like Tupelo Honey, His Band and the Street Choir, and Saint Dominic's Preview.

  34. The plodding nature fits the song's heaviness. Great lyrics also. I've praised that song since first listen. It's a very well-composed song. Nothing feels shoe-horned. But it is plodding. Yes. A deliberate plodding march. Personally, I find it very effective.

  38. Just listening to the new Elder. Sonntag sounds like they're big Krautrock fans. Love it. The drum sound is still the only drop of bitterness for me. Otherwise it's a fantastic album.

  47. You're "starting to get" it?! Haters have been complaining about the "plodding tempo" for the last 10 years. THAT and/or the vocals + lyrics. I'm not a hater. I'm a dislike-half-of-itter. ;) It is just so foreign that it hadn't even occurred to me that someone could dislike songs just because they are mid-tempo. I can understand excruciatingly slow songs being a drag, but there is none of that here. It's not Celine Dion, for goodness sake! I love mid-tempo rock. A good deal of my collection is mid-tempo rock and I don't think RUSH are strangers to it either. Snakes & Arrows does mid-tempo rock better than any other RUSH album. TRF has consistently sung the praises of Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, and Moving Pictures but it surprises you that some of us dislike Snakes?! I'm not surprised that you & others like Bravest Face. I wasn't surprised that you could dislike Headlong Flight. So I can't understand why you can't grasp the concept that Snakes isn't as liked as you'd like it to be. You like what you like. Others don't have to like what you like or for the reasons that you like something. Why is this a mystery/foreign concept? My personal Top 5 RUSH albums: 1. Grace Under Pressure 2. Power Windows 3. Permanent Waves 4. Moving Pictures 5. Snakes & Arrows You see, RUSH fans can LOVE Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, AND Snakes & Arrows; hence my confusion. To me Snakes & Arrows falls right in line with Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures. So yes, I am surprised when someone who loves those 2 albums says insipid and nasty things about an album that I feel is right up there and very much within a similar writing vein and style to them. I totally get how someone who thinks Hemispheres is the best RUSH album loves Headlong Flight and Clockwork Angels, because I do see similarities there too. What bothers me is you and others taking extra effort to slam Snakes & Arrows (and Test For Echo and Roll The Bones, for that matter) for no reason. WHY did you make your stupid comment about Bravest Face on a thread about Limelight (http://www.therushfo...40#entry4348399)? Did you just feel like being a dick for fun, or do you think you are being witty by putting down music that others love? Why do you feel the need to come back and leave additional negative comments over and over again on the dedicated Snakes & Arrows celebratory thread? If there was a thread celebrating Hemispheres, I would say I love Circumstances, but never listen to Side A or the instrumental, so overall my rating of the album is poor and not bother to comment again. I don't think it is a particularly good idea to shit on someone's party. It's actually pretty rude and forces oneupmanship; meaning the more you take shots at what I love, I am forced to take shots at what you love to keep things balanced. It is generally a stupid way to behave. I rather focus on the positives, but some people feel the need to throw insulting comments at RUSH songs/albums I love for the fuckk of it. I'm sorry you feel the need to be such a dick about things. Bravest Face is an awesome song. I am sorry that a RUSH fan saying that on a RUSH Fan Board is so upsetting to you that you have to constantly contradict the statement. It must be a bitch being that insecure. And I'm sorry that someone making a harmless throwaway negative comment about a song that you like upset you so much that you had to resort to childish namecalling. You say you'd "rather focus on the positives," but in the same paragraph you're calling someone a "dick"? And then you say, "It must be a bitch being that insecure," yet your whole post is dripping with insecurity. How DARE someone not like something that you like!!! In other words, cut the crap diatribein.

  48. I find Roger Waters to be an insufferable snob with a brilliant past. A past he is milking to no end. I'll listen to the new album to see if it's still the case.
