I was meh on all the singles released but when I heard everything together on the album I ended up really liking it. So far the singles for Sleepless Empire have done nothing for me. me either. like they're the most bland anybody could have done them songs ever. doesn't mean i'm discounting the album but the singles are just are not it for me. Mick The songs work incredibly well as part of the entire album. It has fantastic flow, and the melodies are deceptively complex, the hooks are rich and the music is textured. Also at eleven songs, it's exactly the right length, in fact it might be their most addictive album to date.
Segue Myles Posted January 17 Posted January 17 I've not written them here, but I've been daft not mentioning how much I'm obsessed with Green Day at the moment! 1
bluefox4000 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 (edited) Been playing lots of bob Dylan and Steely Dan and Jackson Browne. 3 very wordy artists but all very different Dylan is Dylan and writes in very abstract images and metaphors and who knows what he's saying half the time, lol Browne is so good at writing about relationships and the human experience. And the Dan is great at wacky stories about down on their luck and unethical folk. and the humor in their lyrics is so dark, lol people say they write about nothing and that's false and it's annoying that that claim persists. The Analog Cub Posted January 17 Posted January 17 It's Opeth. I'm running through the discography and the biggest highlights for me have been Blackwater Park, Ghost Reveries, and Pale Communion. Sorceress and beyond are still upcoming.
bluefox4000 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Laura Nyro One of the most Influential and sadly kinda forgotten female artists ever. Like if you want to know where Kate bush's vocal style originated from. it's CLEARLY laura. I love her. Mick
Segue Myles Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Green Day and Lacuna Coil I miss the mid-2000s when these bands DOMINATED 3
Segue Myles Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Fleetwood Mac, Green Day, In Flames, Third Eye Blind, Lacuna Coil...I've been playing albums and songs from these five bands constantly lately! 2
Union 5-3992 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Been getting into Drive-By Truckers a bit lately. They're playing the album I know best in full next week so I wanted to get more familiar with their other big albums. Very very solid southern rock with a bit of a punk attitude. 1
Segue Myles Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam. Annnnnnnnnnnnnd... Pearl Jam. 1 1
bluefox4000 Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Mostly harry Chapin. and now adding Journey/Steve perry. Mick 4
Segue Myles Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Pearl Jam and Pearl Jam with a small dose of something else to keep me from getting sick of Pearl Jam. And that is Pearl Jam. 2
Mr. Not Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Not obsessed but one of my favorite recent finds for sure

bluefox4000 Posted February 16 Posted February 16 (edited) Still Dream theater. they've gone UP in my eyes if possible in my revisit. Also the OG portnoy era has now far eclipsed the mangini era for me. Which as years by go i realize i don't love that much of. this was eye opening cause i like MM a lot but this era is very wobbly for me these days and doesn't quite hold up. But i'm forever grateful for him in the band. Mick Edited February 16 by bluefox4000 2
