I count this. Alex sounds like a metal maestro and Bastille Day rocks as hard as anything off the first two Maiden albums.

 

The rest of the album is just...metal madness and bolder than fans give it credit for.

Metal is a pretty wide and expanded " genre". It means alot of different things to different people. Also it has clearly changed greatly in the last decade . Thats why so much variety on our list so far, imo

I think from COS to Hemispheres they released four of the greatest metal albums of all time, not just the seventies.

I wouldn't want to include Rush too much either but I can't stop others from doing that. For certain albums, you can make the case I guess. I remember a big debate a few years ago here about whether or not they were metal. I figure we can be pretty lax with the rules.

 

Four or five Metallica albums would look right. Eight or nine Maiden albums would look right. At least three Slayer albums would look right. Four or five Megadeth albums would look right.

 

Four classic, influential Rush albums at the very least look right.

I think "metal albums" is the key here - the artist or band can morph and be diverse through out their career, but it is a particular album we are nominating here ..

 

Every album Iron Maiden has released could be considered "metal" ... But while I feel KISS' Destroyer can rightfully be considered "metal", their Dynasty album is not

 

Same goes for Rush and something like 2112 compared to Presto

 

Some artists are metal, some albums are metal
