Off the top of my head, I'm sure I'm missing plenty.

Edited, eliminated 4. I don't remember posting here. Eclectic mix of rhythm, lead, finger pickers, and pick users. These all do something special melodically or rhythmically that speaks to me at a deep level.

Frank Marino------------------------The man is a guitar god.

IMO Frank Marino is the Canadian Hendrix. Freaking love the tone he gets outta his SG.

I can't wrap my brain around the statement "Hendrix is overrated".

i respect him....dude was amazing live. I can hardly sit thrugh his studio albums though.

just me, lol

Mick

I can relate to this. I'm amazed watching video of his live performances, but I can't find the right headspace to listen to an album for very long. (Not too interested in the herbal or chemical recipes to enhance that...)

I can't wrap my brain around the statement "Hendrix is overrated".

It only comes from people who can't pinpoint exactly what impact he had and how innovative he was.. Today he just sounds like your average fantastic guitar player so people can get confused as to what sets him apart.

Jani Liimatainen has been and always will be a personal favorite of mine. He hasn't written a single guitar solo I don't enjoy, often times hearing his solo will be the best part of any song he's a part of... Just amazing writing and playing all around.

From his first Young Guitar DVD:

Yes, it's all perspective. Imitation and influence does have a way of watering something down over time.
