My hips ache......

I think it's the heat. The heat aggravates my arthritis more than the cold.

I keep having dreams about my friend who took his life. In one I tried to save him, and in others he mostly shows up to my surprise.

I still dream about those who have died in my life too. I'm always genuinely surprised to see them in my dreams because I know they have died.

I find myself emotionally haunted by those that have died unnatural deaths at young ages. Something will trigger a memory and I'm overcome with a wave of sadness...even decades later.

I experience the same, too.

Union, I'm sorry for your loss. I know it's been a little while since it happened, but not all that long...and you're obviously still reconciling it. Take good care.

Same thoughts from me, Union.

One more day with almost NOTHING to do at work - yes, the job I started in January! The company is at a crossroads right now, and hasn´t decided whether or not it will go ahead with certain projects, and while they´re still on the fence, we sit here doing close to nothing all day. If only I didn´t need the money, I could quit this and spend my days with Stella!

Definitely better to be busy. Hang in there!

Kinda disconcerting to find out actual people's EXPERIENCE makes your 'over heard' 'knowledge' WRONG? I HATE when that happens...LOL

No it's not disconcerting. I didn't "overhear" that. And no it's not "knowledge". It's what other actual people have reported in print and in my life. You have your experience. Others have theirs. I can accept what you guys have just reported. Why can't you accept what I reported?

I DID accept that what you said was YOUR experience. What I did NOT do, was word my response correctly.

Sorry about that, chief! http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Movies-%20TV/Vehicle-%20Sunbeam%20Tiger%20coupe%20%20with%20Maxwell%20Smart%20sort%20of%20%20cr%20%20sm_1.jpg

I have a hard time trusting people. That's what happens when your best friend betrays you. Don't trust ANYONE, including your spouse. Many people have gotten divorced after decades of marriage.

Yes, sometimes people betray trust. That's really a horrible thing and I'm sorry it happened to you.

But not trusting anyone means not letting anyone get to know you, not letting them into your life. It means you live a lonely existence devoid of real love and closeness. If you can't trust your spouse then why would you marry them? If you can't trust your friends then why are they your friends?

I trust my friends with secrets, and I'd trust them with my life. In exchange I have some incredible friends who love me very much. I'd have it no other way.

I have a very few friends IRL that I can visit, but maybe after this year's Class reunion, 40 years! I may have a few more!

Not for me. The heat makes everything worse. I get more aches and pains, and my arthritis really acts up in the heat.

Even when you think someone has proven themselves worthy of trust, they still might screw you. That's a chance we all take. The only alternative to that is to let no one close to you ever. You don't want to do that. It would make for a very lonely loveless life.

Me too. Now what are they gonna do? Japan has some of the toughest gun laws in the world. This guy KNIFED people to death. Outlaw knives? I personally know how to kill someone with a CREDIT CARD. How do you get rid of THOSE? My point? Isn't it obvious? What needs to get done, is BETTER PEOPLE SCREENING!!!

What was there to screen in that particular case? He broke into the facility where he used to work. What if there were no obvious signs he was that mental years ago when he started working?

YOU SEE THE PROBLEM!!!!!! yet you refuse to aknowledge the CAUSE. That man WAS UNSTABLE MENTALLY. The weapon was a TOOL the man used. Better people that do PEOPLE scanning. THAT is the solution. In My Opinion, of course, but I see NO other solutions at this point, eh? Do you?

Listen. If someone is not mentally unstable at the time of a screening then commits a violent act years later, then your screening solution wouldn't have been successful (even though it's PART of the right thing to do). THIS is what I'm talking about. This is what I said the first time with my "if" question. So be quiet with your "yet you refuse to acknowledge the cause" bullshit. Where did you get that from? Sounds like you didn't read what I wrote then jumped to a conclusion.

The cause was a mentally unstable man. I mentioned no weapon. YOU did. And for the record, I worked half a decade plus in mental health facilities with clients not too different from this criminal. Since mental illness is often the result of an accumulation of events (among other things) which sometimes leads to a person's breakdown, screening will not always be successful. I'm not saying people shouldn't be screened. I never did. I'm saying it's not that simple.

I like to play 'Devil's Advocate' a LOT. I really like the answers I find when I point to certain parts of a person's statement. I understood everything you said, The ARTICLE you posted mentioned the WEAPON, and I also know it's not that simple, but some folks think so. I would like these people to start thinking of solutions instead of sitting and armchair quarterbacking the world's problems. I've read a lot of your posts Johnny, and I'm pretty sure you're not one of these 'sitters'. sometimes I need to re-read MY posts....

One of those calamities that shows Mankind's inhumanity to other humans. Why do some of us do these things?

It turns out we've had a creepy serial killer in our midst -- about 20 miles west of me -- which has cast a pall over northwest Ohio the past week or so. I was talking to a lady at a wine tasting tonight, and she knew both the most recent victim, Sierah Joughin, AND the perpetrator. It was very difficult to hear her speak about them. It put me in a funk.
