Segue Myles Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Eraserhead I'm curious as to why you think this is overrated (I actually don't disagree with your opinion). The unbearably bleak, dark, and industrial setting. How can you call a film overrated when the vey thing the film sets out to be is accomplished perfectly? I am sorry Singin' In The Rain is overrated. It's the perfect musical! Come on Mountain Buddy! Give us some more details!

They're quite funny with their little "uh, uh" noises. 2

As for my opinion on Eraserhead, the last and only time I saw it was over 2 years ago, and from what I remembered, I liked the style and the look it. The story...not so much and that's what I think is overrated about the movie. I like Tombstone Mountain's description of the plot cause that's how I interpreted it. The plot is straightforward IMO, but it's overshadowed by its weirdness if that makes sense. I say more about it, but then I'd be rattling on like some film scholar. I think David Lynch is a legend at what he does best, but maybe he's not for everyone including myself. Edited June 16, 2014 by PolarizeMe 1

Tombstone Mountain Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I have yet to see Elephant Man or Blue Velvet but I heard great things about both.I'm inclined to suggest this film, because it's produced by David Lynch and directed by my hero—Werner Herzog. It's got an element of Lynch weiredness, but not so darkly twisted: My Son My Son what have ye done? Willem Dafoe and Michael Shannon
Turbine Freight Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Star Wars (all of them) Ouch! I loved the first 2 SW movies as a kid. 1
Ancient Ways Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I'm enjoying this thread but appreciate the posts where a case is made for why a movie is overrated instead of just "I hate _____". Just because you hate it doesn't mean it's overrated. 1
