Lorraine Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 You will have to consult someone who is Jewish as to the answer to that question. I just eat the pickles. 1

Can be found in condiments sectionI wouldn't bet on them being found, but I will look tomorrow. Just one of the many major adjustments I had to make when I moved here was finding substitutes for all of the things I could easily buy back there that they never heard of out here. 1

Geez where did you move? To the Yukon?
pjbear05 Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Yeah I was pretty stunned to find Vlasic products at the Publix stores here in FL. Most of them stock Mount Olive, which makes some good pickles and condiments, but not a good Polish style dill. BTW, the difference between Polish style and Jewish or Kosher style is the pickling brine. Jewish brine is water, salt, garlic, and pickling spices. while Polish style adds vinegar to the brine. 2

Thebuckeye2112 Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 I really like Giardinera it is an Italian or Italian-American relish of Cauliflower, Peppers, Carrots and Sometimes Onion, I swear a true Chicago-Style Italian Beef Sandwich is Just a regular hot beef sandwich without the Giardinera, Of course I also like it on a Salami sandwich with Provolone and hot mustard.
Derek19 Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 (edited) My favorite brand of pickles is, and has been "Bick's" except for Extra Garlic, and Hot' N Spicy ones. Edited November 3, 2019 by Derek19

blackhawkrush Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Lowell old country style Polish dill pickles. Perfection!
Nova Carmina Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 I dunno -- whatever kind come on my cheeseburger! Related question: is drinking the pickle juice a thing, or an abomination?
blackhawkrush Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 I dunno -- whatever kind come on my cheeseburger! Related question: is drinking the pickle juice a thing, or an abomination?I like the taste of pickle juice, but it's supposed to be bad for you. Then again, they said the same thing about eggs. Now the theory is you can eat eight of them in one sitting. 1
blackhawkrush Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Cracovia Kartuskie dill pickles in vinegar brine. Very good, but don't wait too long to eat them after opening the jar. I had the last two today and they were not of the highest standard anymore.
