  1. Definitely not what I was expecting, I was expecting a lot more Kenny Loggins, but no instead I got just like 30 seconds of Danger Zone, Not to mention it was somewhat rife with inaccuracies, the two that got me were that they were dogfighting against the Russian Air Force, The Russian Air Force does not have the F-14 Tomcat in their arsenal, The only nation to have it currently is Iran, Likewise the Aircraft they used for the enemy is the Sukhoi Su-57 which is flown by the Russian Air Force, but they made a critical mistake they referred the aircraft by a NATO reporting name that does not exist. In the film they call it "Bandit" which does not appear in the NATO list of reporting names, the proper NATO reporting name for the Sukhoi Su-57 is "Felon".
  2. Turns out that Rush References are Just the tip of the Iceberg for Regular Show, I remember watching an episode where Rigby goes back to High School to get his High School Diploma and they reference one of my favorite movies, Rushmore and my favorite film director Wes Anderson. They even included a remixed version of the iconic music from Mark Mothersbaugh who also coincidentally did the music in Regular Show as well as Wes Anderson's first four films from Bottle Rocket to The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou.
  3. I'd have to say I am a big fan of classic books that have created sociopolitical stirs, the more controversial the better. I especially loved George Orwell's chilling almost prophetic visions found in the pages of Animal Farm and/or 1984 which ironically most Americans horribly mistranslate or cannot even grasp the main theme of the books without having to use their preconceived and prejudiced views of Socialism and or Totalitarianism fog up their reading experience. Likewise Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five also has the same impression, only instead of socialism or totalitarianism it is really all about The way of life after seeing your country actively betray you just because of the savage and nihilistic beings that is war and excessive to extreme patriotism.
  4. Since Saturday is just made for watching toons so they say I have been bingewatching Regular Show on HBO Max. I wouldn't of guessed there would be Rush references. No joke the pilot episode has a montage that is set to a synth remix of Tom Sawyer. Word is on Reddit I should also keep my ears peeled for a rendition of Subdivisions and/or The Spirit of The Radio.
  5. Probably one of the most underrated Wes Anderson films. The music is really good Though. I swear opening with "This Time Tomorrow" by The Kinks was really impressive, it probably tops "The Man in Me" by Bob Dylan in the opening of The Big Lebowski.
  6. Oh Gawd no, Seriously that shrieking sun from that one Sprite commercial still gives me the creeps, seriously was he a reject from a commercial for Raisin Bran Crunch because he did a bunch of PCP and Cocaine.
  7. I keep forgetting he had a role in Gilligan's Island, where he played a dictator. On a slightly unrelated note why has not any of the major streaming platforms gotten the rights to streaming all the episodes of Gilligan's Island?
  8. I always definitely this commercial to be one of my favorites:  Coincidentally I remember seeing this commercial for the first time in a hotel room somewhere on the road in between Bismarck and Yellowstone National Park.
  9. I always found Shrek to be overrated and does not age well. I think it is the case; because looking back at it I see it as just a random heap of plot holes, mediocre acting and an occasionally shitty soundtrack. Seriously having to suffer through Smash Mouth once is like being Slapped in the ass with a wet gym towel, but listening to them again at the end doing a cover from The Monkees, that's like being waterboarded. Seriously I am going to need a lot a lot of beer to swill this down.
  10. Lisa: Mom, Bart's Drinking Coffee !! Bart: It's not coffee, it's hot Pepsi !
  11. Disney Pixar's Soul: Surprisingly deep but also pretty funny. I really loved the alternation of Jazz in the city scenes, with quasi-new age for the metaphysical scenes, but probably what captivated me was the cast, sure Jamie Foxx's and Tina Fey's character chemistry were spot on, I think the real showstopper was Graham Norton's character, probably because when ever I associate his roles in comedy I always think of him as the quasi-neurotically annoying youth group priest character Fr. Noel Furlong from the Anglo-Irish sitcom Father Ted.
  12. Flanders: Feels like I am wearing nothing at all, nothing at all, nothing at all Homer: Aah, Stupid Sexy Flanders Mr. Burns: Are you saying boo or boo-urns? Crowd: BOOO !!!!! Hans Moleman: I was saying boo-urns
  13. I really like the Eagles, I always say their music is perfect Road trip music, I remember binge listening to the Eagles when I drove from The Piedmont Triad to Sedona. Personally my favorite Eagles songs are their more folk-oriented songs, with the exception of one song. Here's my list of the top five Eagles songs. Peaceful Easy Feeling Desperado Tequila Sunrise Take it Easy Hotel California Honorable Mentions: Already Gone, New Kid in Town, Doolin Dalton, Witchy Woman
  14. Personally I am a fan of vintage SNL, Especially when they parodied Commercials, One thing I did not realize is that Chris Parnell goes back to the 1990s. As for current day SNL, I only watch for the political sketches, I especially loved the sketch where Melissa McCarthy impersonates Sean Spicer.
  15. I always find it odd that insurance companies are usually the purveyors of asinine advertising campaigns. I call it "The Flo-Effect"; Granted Flo from Progressive has jumped the shark, too many times, but what really irritates me nowadays is Liberty Mutual's half assed attempt at trying to rip off Starsky & Hutch, I will not go into further detail but so much to say is that one of them is replaced by an Emu, Not only is the image of their team chemistry appalling, but the acting is just horrendous. If anything it reminds me of a Cowboy riding an Ostrich from a certain Holiday special, now I kind of wish there were an Isle of misfit Ads.
  16. Two Airline mechanics named Gary and Tim get off work at New York's La Guardia Airport, one night La Guardia gets fogged in heavily so there is not any aircraft movement. So that night they do not have any work, usually after Gary and Tim quit the two hit a nearby bar, so Gary said to Tim. "I have heard you can get a buzz off of drinking jet fuel." So they roughly drink a quart a piece and return back home. The next morning Gary calls Tim and says "How are you feeling?" Tim says he is fine, Gary asks Tim if he has a hangover which Tim responds with no, Tim then says to Gary "This is great we can drink all we want and we will not get hung over," Gary then says "One small question, Tim" Tim says "what is that" Gary responds with "Have you farted yet?" Tim answers "no, why?" "Well don't because I am calling from Phoenix, Arizona." Here's another joke a friend of mine said to me in high school: Two Cannibals named Jeff and Mike are sitting down to chow down on a man killed after being hit by a city bus, they cook him and begin consuming him, Jeff asks Mike how he is doing, Mike responds "Awesome, I am having a ball right now."
  17. I really like Chicago because of the scale of how the city seems to radiate out from the shores of Lake Michigan, especially if you are flying over it en route to Chicago O'Hare in the evening hours. Cleveland is similar only it is on Lake Erie and the airport is Cleveland Hopkins, It also is the Gateway to my Home state of Ohio, although I do have to say it is the most misjudged metropolitan area in all of Ohio. Although if there is one city that I always love at least in the United States it would have to be the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul. I especially love how the city balances out urban sprawl with natural areas, not to mention it is a city that loves to express Internationalism, I especially love the diversity of cultures ranging from Scandinavian, African, Asian to Latin American all living in a dynamic metropolis that continues to amaze. I especially love finding some really unique restaurants one of my favorites Is a place in St. Paul that specializes in Russian cuisine (Which I admit is the perfect cure for a Fierce Minnesota Winter) not far from F. Scott Fitzgerald's Childhood Home
  18. I recently watched The Darjeeling Limited not too long ago, definitely an Interesting movie it is about three nearly dysfunctional brothers on a spiritual journey through India trying to reconnect with their elusive mother after the untimely death of the brothers' father. I really enjoyed it especially the combination of Western music and music from old Bollywood films, I also loved the whole vibe it is quirky but not like what is seen in Wes Anderson's Later films, gritty and with a whiff of Hindu mysticism. Overall I give this film high acclaim especially since I love the work of director Wes Anderson.
  19. Sir Michael Caine, because "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off !!"
  20. The Lion King: That movie came out the same year I was born, I really love the music also cub Simba is one of the cutest Disney protagonists, especially when he sneezes while being anointed by Rafiki (The Mandrill) Ratatouille: Being an avid francophile, and gastronome this movie comes at no surprise, I really love the music in this film as well, especially the use of French Swing Music. I also really love how the character Collete's last name is Tatou which translates from French as "Armadillo" which is one of my favorite animals. How to Train your Dragon: This movie made me fall in love with dragons most particular the Night Fury (aka. Toothless) elusive and stealthy often regardless as the most deadly of all dragons, but once tamed is the most sociable and loyal of all the dragons, besides who wouldn't like to have a pet dragon who could take you on amazing adventures, not to mention actor Jay Baruchel who voices the titular Hiccup also was the tax collector in the Clockwork Angel's Tour Skit. Robin Hood: This 1973 Classic is on here because as an avid lover of archery, it makes sense that I would like this film, I also love how the characters are played by anthropomorphic animals (Foxes, Bears, Rabbits etc.) which in my mind makes the film rather quirky and unique. I often describe this film as a zoo meets a renaissance faire. Anything by Aardman: Being an avid fan of Animation originating from the States my favorite foreign animation studio hails just across the pond in Bristol, England. As much as I liked their newest film Early Man my favorite Aardman creation is probably Wallace and Gromit, I love how Wallace's inventions at least some of them have a sort of Rube Goldberg-esque concept to them, especially the wake-up device where the bed is on a tilting platform which slides it's occupant down a trapdoor on to an awaiting chair in the dining room.
  21. Talking Heads Eagles The Police The Beatles Jefferson Airplane Grateful Dead Wilco YES The Doors Weather Report Huey Lewis and The News
  22. Winter Light- Yanni (1999) Keys to Imagination- Yanni (1986) Heavy Weather- Weather Report (1977)
  23. I would have to say my favorite Studio album covers are probably Hold Your Fire and Moving Pictures, but when it comes to Live albums I would go with either Rush live in Rio.
  24. I have heard of them, I personally like most of their music, although I though Cathedral Pictures was overkill, although my favorite one is Heavy Light because it kind of sounds like Subdivisions.
  25. Blackadder is quite memorable, definitely a unique take on "Alternative History" I especially liked the first season with Brian Blessed as Richard IV. Although Seasons 2-4 were a laugh as well especially when in season 2 Percy tries his hands at alchemy and creates some "Green." Mr. Bean was my introduction into British comedy, I still find it hilarious to this very day, I have to say of all the scenes that made me crack up the most It would have to be the Scene where he is on a high diving platform, that and the scene where he is in church and he does not know the words for the hymn. Monty Python honestly has been one of my comedy favorites, I remember seeing the musical Spamalot which I thought was genial and well thought through. I have also seen all their films however I have not seen every sketch from Monty Python's Flying Circus. I am also a big fan of Cleese and Palin's work outside of Monty Python, especially in Fawlty Towers and A fish called Wanda Not to mention I have read all of Palin's books where he travels the world.
