CygnusGal
Yes, Tears for Fears were great. I always liked this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOKQ3RBDKy4 edit to add: I feel like I'm back in high school again with the music. It's like a massive 80s retro-flashback! CygnusGal
Don't know if they're new wave or not. Either way, we've got to put some Violent Femmes in here too. I listened to a *lot* of them high school. I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05k90ts2biw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YdQBkxf4kU
laughedatbytime
Can't believe no one mentioned these guys. Love the glasses, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH0vjLwMyc4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcXXhknpO5c The "cops" are one of my favorite bands of all time. Are they new wave? Hard to say. They're kind of punk, kind of reggae, kind of straight pop. I saw them on the Synchronicity tour and again at Fenway Park in 2008(?). They had lost nothing in 25 years. Love them.It would be difficult not to classify their early stuff as anything other than new wave. I'd be willing to defer to the experts at Rolling Stone, though. ;) Even a broken clock is right twice a day. I mean, they nailed it with The Cars, no? ;-)Well, yeah, but....f*** em. ILSnwdog
I would argue that these guys were new wave when they first started.

circumstantial tree
I can't believe I forgot about this one. This one definitely takes me back to the summer of 1982 when MTV was playing this tune in heavy rotation.
