Unattractive Truth
Anything from The Fixx would do, but I'm partial to this one from 1984: P.S: This band is CRIMINALLY under-rated. They were / are amazing and have a very unique sound. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mP8Pe8tp2TQ I love them. In fact, driving out of town for business yesterday, I listened to their greatest hits. Good stuff!

The apartment is located on Concord Square in South End in Boston. I used to live two blocks from it. The restaurant is Davio's when it was located on Newbury Street (it's relocated since then). And the "Carnegie Hall" footage was shot in the Strand Theatre in Dorchester.
driventotheedge
Boy this stuff takes me back to a time when I was a much younger man. Sigh. BTW, just my opinion but I don't see The Cars as New Wave. Straight rock to me.

CygnusGal
I love The Fixx. They are my favourite of the "80s" bands. I still listen to Reach The Beach to this day. I *love* the guitar work, the bass lines and Cy's vocals. Here's two of my favourites from them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dee1mNRVENkhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iArTm9yyYbY
laughedatbytime
I enjoy the Fixx, and especially Red Skies, but the repetitiveness of the playing of the commercial below ruined Saved by Zero for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fj7Zi1pY7Ew

I saw that show at what was then Sullivan Stadium in Foxborough. Good show.
circumstantial tree
When new wave music came about, it wasn't as "synthy" as its later counterparts. I can see the Cars as New wave, the B52s, Nick Lowe, Television, Blondie. New wave came out of punk rock, which had no synths, it was just punk made more commercial. A couple of years ago, my wife and I saw The Alarm, The Fixx, and The English Beat together. It was 80's awesomeness.
