losingit2k
Carnies is such a little gem. This song rocks and moves! Its hard and melodic. Neil's ride during the lead is Classic!
presto123
Believe it or not Carnies is toward the bottom for me. That's not a bad thing as they are all good. Still need more listens.
cygnify
Definitely rocks! There is a certain metal edge to it, but also a pop sensibility within a neo-prog arrangement. Love it!
snowdog2112
It's great, but now I'll never be able to see it as anything other than "Canaries" after that misspelling in the RIAB comments.
losingit2k
I love the little (Sheep sounding effect)! Well it sounds like a sheep! Bah, Bah, Bah, Bah, Bah!
HeadlongMark
That riff is brutal. In a very good way. And the chorus again is extremely catchy.
ColdFireYYZ
This is towards the bottom of my list but its still very good. I love the effects in the beginning. Its such a cool way to start the song.

malnar
Dig it! Clockwork Angels->The Anarchist->Carnies form the best three-song run on the album! Edited June 5, 2012 by malnar
DistantEarlyRushFan
Bottom of the list? The dynammic drum part alone makes it stand out to me
CaressOfKrieger
Definitely up there for me- one of my favorites of the album for sure.
J2112YYZ
One of my favorites on the album. It will be awesome to hear Alex play that riff live
Stormtron
The song really takes off for me around the 2:40 mark. Neil's beastly, I love it.
trenken
I really like how it starts out with the verses, then it goes into a -pre-chorus and chorus that feel like they were written separately. Totally different vibe than the raunchy verses which bugs me. Which the chorus was just as nasty and kept that great vibe going.
Hiding in plain sight
Wouldn't skip it, but it's probably my least favorite. Great opening riff but then it backs off and it's like "what happened?" I prefer how they let the heavy riff in BU2B really dominate the song. Gedneil Alpeart
It s such a rocker! The fast drum parts and the chorus are driving and powerful...so meaty! Incredible energy and powerful in parts.
phoenix87
Carnies is one of the heaviest songs I've ever heard from Rush and I love it. I find my self constantly headbanging to it.
quickfree
I'm starting to like this song quite a bit, even more so compared to the latter half of the songs on the record (ahem, the b-sides The riffs are purely original and not really teasing a previous song like Headlong Flight or Clockwork Angels are. The weird accent or lack of melody in the vocal makes me wonder if its done on purpose. Not sure why. I'm sure there's a really good reason. Shredder2
My first impressions of the song were promising, as I'm still letting this song grow on me. Then again, the whole damn album is still growing on me.
trenken
QUOTE (Hiding in plain sight @ Jun 5 2012, 04:35 PM) Wouldn't skip it, but it's probably my least favorite. Great opening riff but then it backs off and it's like "what happened?" I prefer how they let the heavy riff in BU2B really dominate the song. Yep, starts strong and raunchy as I like to describe it, then changes gears abruptly and drops off a cliff. BU2B rides that flow throughout the entire song and feels like it was written with all parts intended to be there. With this song it sounds like they wrote the verses and chorus parts entirely separately then just glued them together. Wish it just kept that strong opening vibe throughout. GUPower Windows
Definitely one of my favorites so far along with The Wreckers and The Garden. The only track I'm really lacking appreciation for right now is Wish Them Well... but we'll see what happens. I knew after the clips this was going to be one of the better ones.
